The day has arrived for me to announce that my chapter with Hello Mama is coming to a close. I have tried a lot of things over the years to best serve local mamas and to make Hello Mama a sustainable endeavor, but the truth of the matter is that it just isn't.

My heart is full of gratitude for those who have attended the gatherings I've planned or was lucky enough in which to be involved. To the businesses that partnered with me, shared about what I was doing, and supported this endeavor, I could not have done it without you. And to my own loved ones who have been sounding boards, babysitters, and encouragers: there are no words to describe what you mean to me.

I have been honored to do this work, and I am so proud to have been a part of the moments and friendships that have come of out this community. What a beautiful thing to have had the opportunity to cultivate the kind of deeper conversations and thinking, honest and raw relationships, and heartfelt appreciation for matrescence and the seasons of motherhood that I so crave myself. My passion for mothers and community will remain even as I'm ready to close the metaphorical "doors" of the business.

There are some amazing women who share my passion for community and are building it in their own way—I want to highlight them below:

Bridget with her Mom's Night Out series
Maria .greenbay for walks and mom/kid gatherings
Kayla for mom walks in Baird Creek for playdates and events

If you are reading this post in the future, please know that I'd still love to hear from you and the offer always stands for grabbing a cup of coffee. I love meeting people and being in community with as many mamas as I can. You can reach out via direct message on Instagram or ask one of my friends listed above to help you get in touch with me if you're not on social media.

Lastly, if you have other suggestions for people or businesses creating community for mothers, would you share it in the comments so that this post can be a resource? I hope that you are able to find women who make you feel seen and supported as you build your "village" for motherhood.

Postpartum. The magnitude of this season is profound, and it's even hard for me to describe. No matter how much I planned for mine, it brought so much unknown, so much transformation, and even some grief. One of my favorite metaphors I've heard describes postpartum as entering a cocoon, that mothers need time in a safe space to experience the transformation before they can emerge back into the world. For this very reason, I love the shift that is starting to happen in our society to focus a bit more on the mama and her needs. Of course, we have a long way to go to ALL mothers getting the support that they so need and deserve, but at least women are starting to talk about and encourage thinking of ourselves and preparing for the postpartum season.

I encourage the women in my community to dream big about how they want to feel during their fourth trimester, who they want to be there with them (or not be there), and any specifics they feel drawn to about how they want it to look. Some want to stay in bed for weeks, others want the opportunity to start gentle movement right away. Some want to be surrounded by their loved ones immediately and others want to spend the first few days with just their new little family. For most of us, we can't magically erase all of our responsibilities outside of our new babe, but with some dedicated planning, we can make at least part of our postpartum dream a reality.

Here are some of my favorite resources for planning ahead and for focusing a bit more on you, mama:

- Little Honey Money for a mama-focused registry or registry addition
-meal train or meal planning
- Matrescent Muse book for feeling all the feels
-and of course, having a mother blessing (I'd love to help you with yours if you don't have someone you can ask to throw one for you—see the details on my website)

In the chaos of our every day as mothers, daughters, partners, dreamers, or whatever roles we fill, rituals can ground us. You may be thinking that rituals sound so out of reach or serious or won't fit into your life, but they don't have to look any certain way. Maybe it's making your morning cup of coffee or taking a few breaths in the car, carving out a few minutes for yourself where you create a rhythm that you can come back to is all you need. Do you have a ritual you love?

I am so proud to unveil to you a project that has been on my heart and mind for literal years. In the work I've been doing with Hello Mama and even long before it, I've always loved hearing other mothers share about their own motherhood journeys, stories of beauty, of grief, of heartbreak and triumph, of courage, and stillness, and so much more. I've dreamed for so long of a way to connect us, as mothers, and to remind each of us that motherhood isn't just one thing: not just easy or hard, not just when they are young, not just an absolute joy or a pain in the butt. Finally, the day has arrived when I have the absolute honor of sharing with you On Motherhood, a series of interviews with real life local mothers. It's going to be a special place on my little corner of the interwebs, and I hope you'll follow along.

The first post is up (find it at the link in bio), and don't miss the inaugural interview next week. So much gratitude to everyone involved (from those who encouraged this project and listened to me blab on and on about it to those who agreed to share their stories) and to everyone who will be involved in the future. AND don't miss your chance to help me keep this project alive—details at the end of this first blog post.

Whether a new or seasoned mama, it can be so hard to tune out the conflicting messages of all the things you need and what is "best" for baby. And frankly, these messages never end even as your kids get older. But mama, this journey is about you, too, and you have everything inside of you already that you need to be the best mother to your baby. Know that you are allowed to make choices that feel good for YOU, to buy things that YOU like, to dream big about how YOU want to feel or to birth, and so much more. One of your most powerful tools is your intuition or gut feelings. Get to know her, and she'll serve you well. And one last thing: you don't need to defend your choices to the endless people around you who ask. ;)

My Growing Together series, which starts in just a few weeks, is all about you feeling empowered. It's a mix of women's circle (with other mamas listening and NOT telling you what to do or think or feel), yoga, and workshops from local perinatal experts to help you feel confident and comfortable in your body and decisions. See all the details and register at the link in bio.
