We are proud to have Carlos Valles on our board of directors! So excited for the collaboration to better serve our community! 🌟
Partnership Growing
United Community Health Center (UCHC) invited SFB-CRC’s staff to the ribbon cutting celebration of their newly remodeled UCHC Family Dental Clinic and Continental Family Clinic located at Campbell Avenue off Whitehouse Canyon Road. Staff members Kellie Tonks, Sofia Castro, Itzahi Rodela, and Carlos Valles attended the event. Kyle Koch and Sahuarita Mayor Tom Murphy made appearances, highlighting the critical importance of UCHC’s role in providing preventive care and treatment for those underserved in our community.
Since health and nutrition are pillars of SFB-CRC’s mission, our staff shared information with patients and UCHC staff about our Prescription for Health program that focuses on healthy cooking, nutrition, and their impacts on preventing and managing chronic disease. Professionals from eleven UCHC locations in our area are very interested in this program. Our team will follow up with UCHC doctors, nurse practitioners, and others as to how they can refer their patients to the program.
Community health centers like these are in place across the country to provide comprehensive high-quality care and preventive services to all, regardless of ability to pay. They intentionally locate in rural and urban locations needing medical services. UCHC renovated and expanded its Green Valley location to accommodate more patient rooms. UCHC operates under community-based, patient-majority governing boards.
Jon Reardon, recently welcomed as their CEO, invited Carlos to join their board of directors. Reardon brings 25 years of experience in health care with a commitment to caring and considerate delivery of health services and is already highly engaged in the community. Bringing Carlos to the board with his reputation as a knowledgeable and collaborative community leader enhances the already growing relationship between SFB-CRC and UCHC.
“For nearly two decades I have had the privilege of being a patient at UCHC,” Carlos said in accepting. “It is a great honor to have been chosen to serve on the board of directors. The partnership between SFB-CRC and UCHC will undoubtedly strengthen both organizations, enabling us to better meet the needs of our community.”
