6 years at Kids Ahead

I started at Kids Ahead as the "snack lady" and a couple of years into it I had the privilege of starting with our 2nd graders - and I am still with them! My first class of second graders will be "graduating" from Sternberger this year! What a treat to see them grow!

This year I stepped into my new role as Assistant Director. I’m so grateful to be part of a place that brings so much joy not only to the kids, but to the teachers and families as well.

I have lived in Greensboro almost all my life and I’m a proud Grimsley High School graduate, where I met my husband. I have three daughters Frankie, Abby and Callie (and my oldest attended Kids Ahead!),

On the weekends, you can pretty much catch my husband and me at estate sales, flea markets and watching sports!

Fun fact: I played soccer in high school and club soccer in college, and I’m still a huge fan of the USWNT and the NWSL (actually all Women’s sports) Hoping to check off a big bucket list item this summer by volunteering at the World Cup in Atlanta!

I’ve been part of Kids Ahead since 2018 and have had the joy of serving as Director since 2020. My connection to Kids Ahead actually goes all the way back to 1999, before I moved to Chicago, which makes this role even more meaningful to me.
I’m a graduate of the University of Georgia, and my background is a mix of many passions—teaching, comedic acting and improv, party planning, entertaining children, cooking, and running a business. Being the Director of Kids Ahead allows me to bring all of those experiences together in such a fun and rewarding way.
My favorite part of Kids Ahead is getting to watch kids play and interact with each other—it’s like one big playdate every afternoon. I truly hope that every child leaves Kids Ahead with wonderful memories of growing up alongside their friends.
I’ve been a member of Christ United Methodist Church my entire life, and it means so much to me that my children get to grow up here as well! 💙

Today we celebrated the end of our Kindness Drive, and what an incredible success it was! Our students truly showed what it means to care for others. Altogether, our kids earned over 600 kindness cards—an amazing accomplishment we are so proud of.

A special congratulations goes to our 2nd grade class, who collected the most kindness cards! As their reward, they chose to enjoy a visit from the ICPinky Ice Cream Truck, which made for a fun and memorable treat for all students.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents who contributed items from the PDY&F Amazon Wish List. Your generosity helps us continue to provide enriching experiences for our students.

We were able to present Mr. James Gardener with a mulching mower for his Spring planting!

ALSO A HUGE Thank you to Coolin Out Ice Cream Truck Make'Em Smile Campaign for the special treats for our teachers!

We were so proud of the kindness showed by all of our students and grateful to support the local community as well!
