Reposting because 🖕🏼🤬😡😤🥺😢🖕🏼

In case you are wondering where I sit on this issue.

🔍 Let me be clear:

Body autonomy is one of my core values--YOU decide what is best for you.

❌ Not me.
❌ Not the government.

✅ You.

You may have known me earlier in life when I identified as pro-life. I went to 13 years of Catholic school and left not understanding much about abortion besides what I was told. It was clumsy to hold together the social justice concepts of helping those experiencing financial hardship, homelessness, and lack of access and voting anti-choice. But somehow I kept carrying it all.

What changed?

1️⃣ I got to know people with different lived experiences and view points.

2️⃣ I got to know people who didn't look like me and weren't raise with my privileges.

3️⃣ I unpacked my internalized misogyny from yt supramancy that values creating another worker to add to the workforce over my safety and choice.

4️⃣ That no matter the laws yt people will always have access to abortions.

5️⃣ That keeping abortion inaccessible hurts my Black and Brown neighbors and community more.

🎯 I held up all my values and beliefs and sat with the cognitive dissonance that they couldn't all fit together.

I appreciate now at almost 47 that accessible abortion is needed and necessary for body autonomy, healthcare, human rights, justice, and freedom.

And Food Peace.

I will continue to fight for reproductive health, access, and justice 👊🏻

Who is tired?

🙋🏻‍♀️ 🙋🏻‍♀️ 🙋🏻‍♀️

If you've listened to my podcast Find Your Food Voice or followed me on Instagram then you have heard me go on and on about how much I neeeeeeeeed sleep.

And being a parent to little ones disrupted that a lot. Add in a crap ton of anxiety and well my sleep sucks.

The folks at calmbywellnessco Calm by Wellness reached out to see if I would post a giveaway of their CBD Sleep tincture and I said I need to try it to be sure it actually helps.

And it has! I usually needed an hour nap most days and I haven't since using this product the last week. I can tell I am sleeping deeper. My experience may not be the same as yours--it's just my experience--yet wanted to share it before we give 10 away!

Sleep is so important: having a deep, restful sleep is one way to relax, lower stress, and recharge for a new day.
Calm by Wellness wants to "reach more people and give them the best sleep they could ever have."

Calm by Wellness is sponsoring 10 winners from my audience to get their Sleep CBD Oil Sample tincture for FREE!

Tried every diet out there but think diets are the only way to go?

Find yourself uncontrollably pulled toward carbs after a few days or weeks of dieting?

If you’ve answered YES to both of these questions, I want to give you a {consensual} hug. Your foodways have been stressful + there is another way.

This exhausting space is what many refer to as Diet Rock Bottom. It is common when living with PCOS or other chronic medical conditions focused on food.

Diet Rock Bottom is a common place for those who trying diets + can be stuck there for eternity. Realizing you are at the bottom, you can look inward to choose to reclaim your natural footing w food + your own body wisdom.

But how do you do this when you are told the only way is with diets?

With each diet beginning, it cloaks one with a seductive hope of skinny success. This hope translates to other areas of life not just weight. Feeling like a successful dieter provides a visual of a successful academic, career mover, and happy lover.

Seeking thinness increases access.

Appreciating how seductive hope dips into all these other areas OUTSIDE of food, we can really start to understand how starting a diet is really a fantasy. With that fantasy it also promotes a sort of mindf**k. Here’s why:

Our bodies are programmed to survive + dieting kicks in our pre-programed physiology to not continue with this self-destructive behavior. Our bodies do not like diets especially w PCOS. It kicks in primal programs to be more hyperfocused around food. Humans evolved this way + this behavior kept our ancestors alive.

When you feel what feels like a binge after dieting for a portion of time that’s not you failing. That’s you being an evolved human.

Is it time to accept diets don't work for you?
