I don’t know about y’all, but I’ve been in a cocoon these past few months.
Deep in reflection. Quiet. Protective of my energy.

I’ve been craving stillness—less noise, fewer distractions—so I could hear me.

And now, slowly, I’m starting to emerge with fresh perspective… on what I want, what I’m no longer available for, and what this next chapter could feel like.

Healing isn’t linear. It’s not something we check off a list. It’s an ongoing, spiraling journey—and sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is turn inward and listen.

To our bodies.
To our truth.
To what’s calling us next.

I haven’t always loved her.
The woman in this photo — me.

It’s taken most of my life to get here. To a place where I can look at her with softness, with pride, with love.
Not because everything is easy now — but because I’ve stopped abandoning myself when it gets hard.

I’m still in it.
Still doing deep personal and emotional work.
Still realizing how trauma shows up — especially now that I’m finding myself in healthier relationships.
Not chaos. Not survival. But safety… and that’s a whole new language my nervous system is learning.

I’m seeing how old wounds still try to speak.
But now I can hear them without letting them run the show.

I know what I value.
I know what I deserve.
And I’m not afraid to live like I believe it.

This year, I made a commitment to myself:
To play — unapologetically.

Not as an afterthought or reward. But as a sacred part of my healing, my joy, my freedom.

Lately, I’ve noticed I haven’t been playing as much… and I felt it. In my body. In my mental health. In the way the world started to feel a little heavier again.

For me, play isn’t just fun. It’s how I reconnect with me. How I soften. How I remember that I’m allowed to feel good — even in the middle of it all.

So I’m returning. To laughter. To movement. To creating without a reason. To moments that aren’t about being productive, but being alive.

This is your reminder too:
Your joy doesn’t need justification. Your play doesn’t need permission.

Testimonial Spotlight: Marisa’s Illuminate Experience

On the last day of my Illuminate retreat, while leading our final yoga class, I watched her out on the deck—laughing with the wind, moving with joy, soaking in the mountain view.⁣

She looked visibly lighter. Her spirit… *unbound.*⁣
⁣
This is the power of returning to yourself. Of being held, seen, and supported in sacred space.

After the retreat, she shared this reflection:
“I came to the Illuminate retreat seeking connection with others. But I didn’t realize going would also leave me feeling so much more connected with myself. I feel like not only did I find a beautiful community of women, I also found my own inner light again. Everything filled me up during the retreat: the nourishing food, the meditations, yoga, and the art activities. My inner child was full of joy and basking it all in. Most importantly to me, I felt incredibly safe throughout. There was never any judgment, just love and support.”

This might be one of my favorite pictures of me—taken at the top of Roan Mountain during my retreat. I’m laughing, glowing, fully alive. And what I see is my soul… finally free.

For so many years, this part of me was dimmed. Smothered by relationships that didn’t see me, didn’t honor me, didn’t know how to hold the magic of who I truly am. I gave my light to people who couldn’t receive it. Who didn’t deserve it.

But not anymore.

The last five years have been a sacred reclamation. I’ve worked hard—so damn hard—to reignite my soul, to realign my life so that every part of it is infused with truth, fire, and love.

And now? I feel it. I am it. In my work. My connections. My breath. My joy.

This photo is a portal. A glimpse into a woman who no longer plays small. Who will never again shrink herself to fit someone else’s comfort. A woman unafraid to shine, to laugh loudly, to take up space with her joy, her depth, her power.

This is why I do what I do.
Because this kind of soul-deep liberation is possible.
And every woman deserves to feel it.

As we sat in our final circle, hearts cracked open, bodies lighter, asked if she could sing us a little song. It could not have been more perfect.
