✨ It’s National Senior Citizen’s Day! ✨

Today we are proud to honor the outstanding seniors who make a difference in our community. Our next recipients are a true dynamic duo—Ron and Adaleen Makin.

For more than 20 years, Ron and Adaleen have been faithful members of their church, dedicating their time, talents, and hearts to serving others.

Adaleen wears many hats—running the sound system during services, counting weekly offerings, keeping church membership records, greeting with a warm smile, and now leading the Prime-Time Senior Center. She creates the monthly calendar, tracks attendance and visitors, sends cards to those who are sick, schedules sponsors, and keeps both members and volunteers organized (even when they like to “bend the rules” a little). Her leadership, kindness, and attention to detail keep everything running smoothly.

Ron, meanwhile, is the church’s go-to handyman and a dedicated usher. From mowing the church lawn with fellow members to tackling major clean-up and repairs after this year’s flooding, Ron is always the first to roll up his sleeves. Whether it’s fixing a doorknob, turning on the A/C, handling maintenance, or locking up after services, Ron is the dependable one everyone counts on. As a church trustee and all-around problem solver, he’s always willing to step in—even if he grumbles a little, his heart for service always shines through.

Together, Ron and Adaleen are pillars of their church and community. Their dedication, hard work, and faith-filled service make them truly deserving of this recognition.

Today we are proud to honor the outstanding seniors who make a difference in our community. Our next recipient is Betty Parsons.

Betty has been a dedicated and active participant since the very beginning of our site, and her commitment has only grown stronger over the years. Recently, she has taken on an even greater role, becoming an essential part of the team that keeps our site running smoothly.

She is consistently the first to arrive each day and the last to leave, helping with everything from setting up in the morning, organizing paperwork, distributing lunches, and staying until the end of the day to ensure everything is cleaned and ready for tomorrow. Her reliability and willingness to step in wherever needed—without ever being asked—show not only her dedication but also her deep care for our community.

Beyond her hard work, Betty brings warmth, kindness, and a welcoming spirit that make everyone feel at home. For her unwavering commitment and invaluable contributions, Betty truly embodies the heart and spirit of our Commerce Congregate Site. We are so fortunate to have her as part of our family.
