🔬 Sauna Science: Traditional vs. Infrared

Same cardiovascular benefits. Same stress relief. Different heat.

Traditional saunas (150-195°F) heat the air around you. Infrared saunas (120-140°F) use light waves that pe*****te tissue directly.

Both increase your heart rate like moderate exercise, reduce inflammation, and activate your body's natural healing responses—but infrared does it at a more comfortable temperature.

Which matters more than the type? Consistency. Regular sauna use (2-4x/week) is where the magic happens: better heart health, faster recovery, and serious stress reduction.

Ready to make it a habit?

Why It's Called Float Therapy
You'll feel the difference after your first session.
But just like physical therapy, one visit doesn't create lasting change.

Float therapy is cumulative. Each session builds on the last—training your nervous system to access deeper states of recovery. Consistent floating amplifies the benefits: lower baseline cortisol, sustained pain relief, improved stress resilience.
The first float introduces your body to profound rest.

Regular floating makes that rest your new normal.

🔥 Infrared Sauna Myth Buster 🔥
It doesn’t have to be HOT to be effective.

Infrared saunas work differently than traditional saunas.

At Kairos, the lowest recommended sauna temperature is 90–100°F—and yes, you still get the benefits.

✨ Why lower temps work:
✔️ Infrared heat pe*****tes deep into muscles & joints
✔️ Supports circulation & recovery
✔️ Calms the nervous system
✔️ Ideal for first-timers & heat-sensitive clients

Want more intensity?
🔥 95–125°F = our most popular therapeutic range
🔥 120–140°F = deeper sweat for experienced users

💧 Hydrate. Listen to your body. Comfort comes first.

My Small-Business Story

I am a trained scientist (Ph.D. Physiology from East Carolina University) and had been working as an Anatomy & Physiology Instructor for the past 10 years. For family reasons, we had to move away from Greenville and during this time I was working as an adjunct professor teaching Advanced Pathophyiosology and Clinical Genetics for advanced practice nurses. Though I love sharing my passion for physiology I just wasn’t feeling fulfilled.

Before we moved away from Greenville in June 2016, my girls and I started Greenville NC ROCKS, a part of the kindness project. We painted about 75 rocks, hid them around downtown Greenville, and waited to see the joy this would bring to people as they found our painted rocks and then shared their pictures on Facebook (Greenville NC ROCKS). Our group quickly grew and we are thrilled that this small act of kindness has spread all over Greenville and the neighboring towns. I was so moved by the positive response that I wanted to do something that could let me share my passion for life and wellness with people everyday.

The journey to open a wellness studio in Greenville, NC began on August 25th, 2018. After floating several times I realized that this was something I wanted to share with everyone. The mental and physical benefits are incredible. We started looking for a great location in Greenville and found it in a revitalized shopping center with great parking & other wellness businesses. The location, the local businesses, the small town vibe, our love for Greenville- everything was perfect.

So, I’m currently working on my business plan, my website is up and running (www.kairosfloats.com), I have Instagram & Twitter (@KairosUptown). I am working with the tank builders, retail suppliers, learning about health codes, building codes, permits, and enjoying every minute that I get closer to fulfilling my dream. I can’t wait to bring floating, infrared sauna, and halotherapy to a community that knows how to build people up and share kindness!
