Crepey Skin Isn’t “Just Aging”
It’s a Structural Skin Change
Most people assume crepey skin develops slowly over decades.
But some may notice, “My skin changed almost overnight.”
This can happen:
• In your 30s or 40s before perimenopause
• During perimenopause or menopause
• With chronic stress, illness, or metabolic shifts
• After weight loss
• During andropause in men (YES, this is real too!)
That’s because crepey skin isn’t only about surface aging.
👉 It’s about what’s happening deeper in the skin.
What’s Happening in Women and Men:
Skin structure depends on fibroblasts, the cells that produce collagen, elastin, and supportive tissue.
There are two common pathways that affect these cells:
1️⃣ Normal Aging (Starts Earlier Than Most People Realize)
Beginning as early as the late 20s–30s, collagen production declines by about 1% per year.
Over time, this leads to:
• Gradual thinning
• Loss of firmness
• Fine lines and texture changes
This process is slow, but cumulative.
2️⃣ Accelerated or Hormonal Skin Change
During hormonal shifts (estrogen decline in women, testosterone decline in men), fibroblasts can become less active or temporarily dysregulated.
This can cause:
• Rapid collagen loss over months instead of years
• Loss of elasticity and recoil
• Skin that looks thin, loose, or crepey
Same cells.
Same structure.
Different speed and trigger.
➡️Why Most Creams and Firming Products Fall Short
Most topical products:
• Work primarily at the surface
• Are designed for slow, gradual aging
• Don’t consistently reach the dermis where fibroblasts live
That’s why people often say:
“I moisturize constantly, but my skin still looks crepey.”
Hydration helps comfort.
But structure requires deeper stimulation.
➡️Where XERF + LaseMD Ultra Fit In
This is why we use XERF and LaseMD Ultra, not as cosmetic quick fixes, but as structural support tools.
XERF
• Supports collagen remodeling at deeper skin levels
• Improves laxity and skin integrity
• Addresses both gradual collagen loss and accelerated changes
LaseMD Ultra
• Improves crepey texture and skin quality
• Stimulates collagen production
• Enhances pe*******on so supportive skincare works more effectively
Together, they support:
✔️ Ongoing age-related collagen decline
✔️ Hormone-related skin changes
✔️ Loss of firmness and elasticity
✔️ Crepey texture on arms, neck, abdomen, thighs, and jawline
No surgery.
No fillers required.
Minimal downtime.
What About Botox or Fillers?
Botox and fillers can be helpful for:
• Expression lines
• Volume restoration
They don’t, however:
• Restore collagen structure
• Improve skin thickness or quality
• Address crepey texture
They may be used as a bridge, but they don’t replace structural support.
When skin integrity improves, many patients find they need less injectable support over time.
➡️Addressing Skin From the Inside, Too
Because skin structure is influenced by hormones and metabolism, we can also evaluate:
• Estrogen, progesterone, testosterone
• Thyroid and metabolic health
• Inflammation and nutrient status
Addressing skin + internal physiology together leads to more durable, natural results, for women and men.
The Takeaway:
Crepey skin isn’t a failure of skincare.
It’s a signal that the skin needs deeper support.
Whether changes happen slowly over time or more rapidly with hormones, the goal is the same:
👉 Support collagen, structure, and skin integrity — not just the surface.
If you’ve been told,
“That’s just aging,”
there may be a more deeper conversation to have!
