Therapy Dog Team Laura and Ruby have completed over 100 hours volunteering at Mt Hood! 🎉🎉🎉 Volunteer Manager Debbie and Assembly of the Wandering Shepherd purchased a brick to add to the healing garden to honor their dedication and hard work.

Ruby, and Handler Laura, visit the staff in Radiology and Oncology almost every week. For Volunteer Appreciation week the staff made an extra effort to let them know how much they are appreciated. 💙

We volunteer to give back to our communities knowing we are often helping people who need it the most. Being thanked for our work is not a necessity but oh man, it sure does fill our cups when we feel the appreciation.

There is scientific evidence that benefits can be felt even when an animal isn’t present and we’re “just” looking at pictures. This means everyone who checks out the bulletin board outside of the cafeteria is experiencing some joy of pet therapy. That would imply our dogs are working 24/7. I hope they don’t ask for a raise. 😜

Want to know more about this fantastic work? Join Robynn and Schatzi this Sat, March 9, 1:00pm to 3:00pm to learn more about Pet Partners.

We will talk about how individuals who want to volunteer with their companion animal can get started. We’ll also talk about how organizations can request teams and what they can do to make their facilities more therapy animal friendly.

Please RSVP to ensure we have enough snacks and drinks for everyone.
