If you have been in our office there is a good chance Dr. Meylor has suggested stretches for you. A good, deep stretch usually feels great, but did you know there are so many health benefits of stretching, especially while under active chiropractic care! But what exactly are those benefits?
1. Reduces Muscle Tension
Tight muscles can pull on the spine and surrounding joints, creating extra stress and discomfort. Stretching helps relax those muscles, which can reduce pressure on the spine and allow the body to move more naturally. This helps chiropractic adjustments hold longer and supports the healing process.
2. Improves Flexibility & Mobility
Restricted movement in the muscles and joints can slow recovery from spinal issues. Regular stretching improves flexibility and range of motion, helping our patients move with less stiffness and pain. Better mobility also decreases compensation patterns that can worsen spinal problems.
3. Increases Blood Flow & Circulation
Stretching improves circulation to muscles, joints, and injured tissues. Better blood flow delivers oxygen and nutrients needed for healing while helping remove inflammation and waste products. This can speed recovery and reduce soreness during active care.
4. Supports Better Posture & Spinal Alignment
Poor posture and muscle imbalances often contribute to spinal stress and recurring pain. Stretching helps lengthen tight muscles that may pull the body out of alignment. Improved posture reduces strain on the spine and helps maintain the benefits of chiropractic treatment for longer periods.
