🌟Huge shout out to one of our recent Vision Therapy graduates!🌟
“Summer of 2020 was a challenge for my daughter as she continued to struggle with reading. At first it made me sad she never liked to read books or even remember what she read. She complained of headaches & was so tired when we had time to read in the evenings that we got concerned that maybe there was a bigger issue. We took her to her 1st vision appointment & discovered many issues that have been bothering her. It all started to make sense. During the day her eyes had to work so hard to focus on what she was reading, she got tired, headaches & no longer liked reading. We found out that she was seeing double, things looked blurry & her eyes had to work so hard to see clearly it was causing her headaches. Not something a parent likes to hear, knowing that we had no clue this was happening so often for her. She also struggled in softball that summer, off on her swing, having a hard time judging the ball coming across the plate. Rather than her eyes working together to make one image, they were fighting each other to the point that she learned to shut down one eye to be able to see one image. This made us feel guilt that we did not catch this sooner & fear on how we could get this corrected. Then we were introduced to vision therapy, something we had never heard about and were skeptical about. The expense & time commitment worried me. This was also our first time in this office so I thought about getting a second opinion. Such a stressful time but we trusted Dr Roark with her recommendation - we got the scheduling and financial worked out & committed to 32 weeks -32 appointments, 45 minutes each + home activities to see what happens. The pain and frustration she was going through had to stop & this was our hope to change that. Dr Roark and Jody were amazing and the bond she built with these 2 people was fun to see. After this journey, looking back, we have seen huge progress with her…coming to this last appointment it has been worth those tough times. She has less headaches, has done better in softball & improved a lot with reading! Her hard work & dedication has paid off!” Proud parent testimony
