So, what are you up to now?!

I got so caught up in the planning of our first fundraising event, and hitting the ground running with this project, I totally forgot to introduce myself, and my mission here at this organization.

I’m Nicky (Fandino) Zambon, the proud Momma of one sweet, loving, crazy, little bundle of fire, Aiden! We are usually seen around town together, you can usually hear us before you see us, and we go as quickly as we come, leaving a trail of dust behind. I have not had the opportunity to stop running alongside this boy for the last 5 years, which has brought me on a serious roller coaster ride through life, to this place. The place (and time) where I find peace, solitude, growth, and pride; and provide others space to do the same.

I’m the Founder and Executive Director of this organization, The Home Root. An organization that will bring together families and communities to learn, grow, and build together!

This weekend I am hosting our very first Mother’s Day (Dinner) Fundraiser and Mother’s Day (Breakfast) Fundraiser. It was brought to my attention the WHY had been missed in all of my excitement of what’s to come. This nonprofit, to date has been funded 100% out of pocket, and now it’s time to grow and start offering some programs within our local community, but I can’t do this without a solid foundation of funding.

Martin at the Old Scott Barn and Scott from Smokey D’s have joined forces with me and took this leap of faith that our community will come together and support me in building this organization from the ground up, to be the backbone of what I have always called MY HOME, but is more widely known as the “Blue Mountain School District”.

As a BMU Alumni, now a parent and volunteer in the community, I have high hopes for what we can achieve together. Come by this weekend, say hello, learn what we are about, sign up for some of our upcoming events, throw some ideas my way. I look forward to seeing you all there.

Please reach out with any questions, concerns, ideas, or business sponsorship recommendations!

I thank you, from the bottom of my heart 💜

Last, but certainly not least, our Board President, Jessica Lynne Darling!

Jess is a resident of the Ryegate and Groton communities, as well as a graduate of Blue Mountain School. Jess earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Fisher College in 2012 and later earned her Master’s Degree in Accounting and Finance from Southern New Hampshire University in 2017. She currently holds the position of Senior Financial Partner with Affiliated Distribution at National Life Group, where she has worked for nearly twelve years.

Jess is a remarkably driven, powerhouse, role model woman, making her our top choice as Board President. Jess is an outdoor enthusiast who spends lots of time exploring the many hiking trails of the Northeast.

Please join me in welcoming Jess, to our team here at The Home Root 🤍

Up next, our Board Secretary, Carrie Daniels Bogie!

Carrie is a born and raised resident of Groton, VT. She is also a Blue Mountain graduate, Class of 2004 where she has since returned as a Teacher of the Pre-k program for over ten years now. Carrie earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Plymouth State University in 2008, and went on to receive her Master’s Degree from Champlain College in 2013. She has previously served on the board for Little Rivers Healthcare, and is currently a volunteer for New England Donor Services. Spreading the importance of organ donation since her late husband Nick Bogie became an organ donor in 2011, after his passing. With extensive ties to our community, background serving on boards, and experience with grant writing, Carrie was a clear choice as our secretary.

Many of Carrie’s hobbies and passions involve raising her three spirited children (Brayden, Brynn, and Brennan), to be involved in the BMU district, sports, and community.

Please join me in welcoming Carrie (and her family) to The Home Root Family 🤍

First up, our Board Treasurer, Harley Oliver!

Harley is from our home town of Groton VT, where most of her family and many friends also reside. She’s a Blue Mountain graduate, class of 2013, where she has since returned as the Assistant Middle School Softball Coach. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Business from Lyndon State College in 2017. And went on to Graduate School at Southern New Hampshire University where she earned her Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Leadership in 2023. Harley has worked at the State of Vermont, Agency of Transportation for nearly 4 years, where she continues to develop her skillset in finance, making her our obvious choice for the treasurer position.

More recently, Harley and her family purchased their first home in West Groton where she and her husband will raise their fierce little girl in the Blue Mountain District as well!

Please join me in welcoming Harley (and her beautiful daughter, Hazel) to our team at The Home Root 🤍
