Originally from New England, I moved to Florida after graduating High School to attend college and ended up staying for a number of years. It was in Florida where my passion for health began because, quite frankly, it was easy to be healthy in the city I lived in. A health food store on many corners, I could go grab a shot of wheat grass and a sprouted grain, free-range chicken wrap with sunflower
sprouts anytime I wanted to. I never had a problem maintaining my weight because not only was I eating healthy, I was rollerblading with my dog Tiva on a daily basis. Not to mention it’s pretty much Summer there all year, so it was more of a necessity to be in shape because we couldn’t hide the bulge for half of the year in Winter-type clothing like we New Englanders do. :-)
Four years ago, I moved back home to New England and met the love of my life. During our initial years together, I let my desire for optimal health take a back seat to dinner dates, popcorn and ice cream with my love, to name just a few treats. Unfortunately, all of this free-for-all eating made me pack on the pounds and became increasingly unhealthy. It wasn’t until I reconnected with Anna, one of my best friends I met during my years in Florida, that I began to open my eyes to the truth about food. We had lost touch for roughly 10 years and reconnected via social sites. Anna’s knowledge opened my eyes to more truths than I would have the room to type on this blog, but I’ll give it try. She was just the catalyst I needed to change my life. She pointed me in the right direction and I was off to the races, intent on regaining the health I once treasured during my years in Florida. During the past year and a half, I’ve become a label reading foodie! I dropped the 37 pounds I had gained and have kept it off by eating the right things. I can’t articulate in words how much better I feel after learning proper nutrition and I look forward to sharing my road to health with you!
