Adaptable Physical & Occupational Therapy

Adaptable Physical & Occupational Therapy As HEALTH care providers opposed to the sickcare model, it is our role to build autonomy and self efficacy far beyond our episode of care. Guide.

Adaptable PT/OT is a wellness forward clinic providing 1:1 visits for all aged patients.
Our hope is that you feel empowered and in control of your health. We want to guide you through recovery or injury prevention. That truly is the best descriptor. We can provide direction, but it requires the individual following through with that information to truly adopt the habit of movement as medicine. We aren’t going to stop at just talking about your shoulder pain and what you can do to help it. We also want to know how well you are sleeping, are you getting good nutrients throughout the day, are you drinking enough water, and are you managing your stress in a healthy way. If these other factors are not addressed it can intensify symptoms and prolong recovery. We want to help reduce pain and return function as effectively and efficiently as possible.

Hope you all are ready for the new year...school year that is!
Back to school can be such a fun time but it can also have some stress as well as create some aches and pains as your daily routine changes regardless of what your role may be within the school system. Teachers, janitors, support staff, administration all have very meaningful roles that keep the school running smoothly. As a token of appreciation I have put together a few movements for common issues I've seen at the beginning and end of school years.
I hope you all find this beneficial. I hope categorizing a few movements each day helps make it a little easier to find something to help you stay well (can be preventative, that is the hope) or get well and kick aches and pains to the curb.

Back to school Wellness!
Use your body to heal your body!

Fitness Friday
- 🚲♥️45’ + of zone 2 (220- age) = max HR want to be at 50-60% of that. ♥️🏃‍♂️
Example. 40 yr old max heart rate is 180.
Zone 2 is 90-108 beats per minute.

https://youtu.be/wE74E65f6Ak

- 🩹Why this matters. Any inflammation, new onset of pain with change in activities or due to injury, is going to respond better to your bodies own abilities to heal opposed to NSAIDs. 🩹
- 🩸 Zone 2️⃣ promotes healing through blood flow and increased oxygenation of muscles. 🩸

Training in zone 2 (50-60% max heart rate) for a minimum of 45 minutes has exceptional benefits for reducing systemic inflammation. It has been shown to be a...

Back to school wellness!
A great way to build resiliency and reduce the impact of those seasonal illnesses is to be stronger overall. Outdoor time is extremely important for your mental health which can impact your physical health.
Exercise, especially lifting weights, can improve mental and physical wellness leading to a higher level of fitness and taking you further away from the illness side of the spectrum.
