This workshop was originally presented on April 4 at the Adult Children of Alcoholics & Dysfunctional Families (ACA) 2025 Online World Convention and was designed to introduce Internal Family Systems (IFS) perspectives and tools to the ACA Reparenting process. Familiarity with the ACA Reparenting Framework is helpful but not required - my goal is that anyone open to exploring their inner world from a recovery perspective can benefit. No knowledge of IFS is required. If you would like to attend, please reach out, and I will provide you with the Zoom link and passcode.

I just posted a 20-minute video on YouTube about what it means to be an "ADULT CHILD."

This video . . .

1. Defines and discusses what it means to be an ADULT CHILD - someone who grew up in an alcoholic or otherwise dysfunctional home and, thus, likely experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and then carried adaptive survival characteristics learned as a child into their adult lives.
2. Provides information about the Adult Children of Alcoholics & Dysfunctional Families (ACA/ACoA) 12-Step trauma recovery program.
3. Presents the ACA PROBLEM, the "14 Laundry List Traits," which are also known as the 14 characteristics of an adult child.
4. Presents and discusses the ACA Reparenting healing/recovery model (also known as the SOLUTION) and the Reparenting framework of inner child, inner teenager, inner critic (critical parent), and inner loving parent.
5. Introduces the Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapeutic framework of exiles, protectors (managers & firefighters), and Self, then discusses how the IFS model aligns with ACA Reparenting.
