Tonight’s 1st SUPERMOON celebrates the holiday of GURU PURNIMA, honoring our teachers & guides - those who have dedicated their time & energy to conveying not just information but knowledge, helping us us grow into the person we are today.
We have all had many teachers – our parents, school teachers, mentors, spiritual teachers, children & even our pets 😊 . I have learnt much from books & from strangers living inspiring & exemplary lives, awakening others to their deepest yearnings & highest potential.
The auspicious nature of this Full Moon is magnified by its placement in the Vedic nakshatra of Purva Ashadha, the “Invincible Star,” which radiates positivity, blessings & optimism.
Ruled over by Apas, the ancient water goddesses of the Rig Veda, who are the spirits of our planet’s oceans, rivers, and streams, I am reminded that nature is also one of our greatest teachers. She has a wisdom, expressed as flow & rhythm supports all life. We all live & thrive in the rising & setting of the sun, the cycles of the moon, the seasons, the water cycle.
GURU means “remover of darkness” – ignorance. Ignorance is what keeps us small & contracted. But wisdom, when shared by our teachers brings insight, inspiration & growth .
In light of this, this full moon is an opportune time to recommit to your highest potential & take action on your dreams.
Today, I honor my grandmothers who introduced me to Yoga and Ayurveda, my Mother, a teacher, who ignited in me a love of learning and teaching, my first yoga teacher who lit the spark, and those that followed & kept the flame burning bright, every student who graced me with their presence & helped me become the teacher I am today & my husband who lovingly brings to light all my shadows & helps me shine better & brighter.
I bow to each and all.
Who are you giving thanks for?
