Consultation/Training content may include one or more of the following topics:
• Applied Behavior Analysis – Understanding the science of human behavior (i.e., how past and current environmental events impact our social and/or academic behaviors).
• Functional Behavior Assessments and Analysis’ – Understanding the process of conducting functional behavior assessments. Analyzing assessment data (i
.e. file reviews, behavior rating scales, interviews and/or observations) to identify academic and behavior skill and/or performance skill deficits so that effective support plans can be developed and implemented.
• Behavior Teaching Plans – Development and implementation of behavior support plans which include: goals, objectives, implementation procedures, positive consequences, correction procedures, and measurement and evaluation procedures.
• Positive Behavior Supports – Development and implementation of district and/or school-wide “Positive Behavior Support” process (as adopted by Office of Special Education Programs/ Department of Education @ Federal level).
• Classroom Accommodations and Modifications – Understanding various strategies for engineering classroom environments (i.e. accommodations and modifications) to help students with academic and/or behavioral challenges be successful at school.
• Cognitive Behavior Therapy – Understanding and applying a brain-based approach to changing individual behaviors (i.e. calming strategies, self-esteem, communication skills, and/or social skills).
• Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorders (ADHD/ADD) – Understanding and applying strategies for managing academic and/or behavioral performance of students exhibiting deficits in common traits of ADHD/ADD (i.e. focusing/on-task, organization, socialization, impulsivity and/or emotional management skills).
• Alternatives to Traditional Discipline Procedures – Understanding when to utilize alternatives to general education discipline procedures, what program options are available, and how to implement the alternative procedures. Understanding legal issues pertaining to school discipline practices.
