✨ Big news release for Connecticut neighbors who rely on durable medical equipment—and the volunteers who make access possible. ✨

📅 Starting July 1, 2026, the Hamden‑based Mae’s Closet program will officially become a nested part of Wheel It Forward

This move makes Mae’s Closet the 5th location of the expanding Wheel It Forward (WIF) DME Lending Library in Connecticut, following the recent ribbon cutting at Quinnipiac University, home of WIF’s 4th site.

At Interfaith Volunteers (IVCG), we’re excited—and deeply grateful—for this next chapter. None of this would be possible without the dedicated volunteers who have stewarded Mae’s Closet from the beginning and carried it to this moment.

💡 Why this transition matters: a true quadruple win!!
✅ Wheel It Forward continues growing statewide
✅ Mae’s Closet gains access to more inventory and advanced systems
✅ IVCG can deepen focus on advancing volunteerism and strengthening community partnerships
✅ Our neighbors benefit from stronger collaboration, continuity of care, and compassion
This is what happens when community programs work together—with purpose and heart.

Congratulations to Richard Davies on being a Healthcare Warrior! We enjoyed celebrating this recognition provided by the Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce along with Town of Hamden, Connecticut Mayor Adam Sendroff.

Richard recently completed his distinguished tenure on the IVCG Board of Directors, where he served as Board Vice President and brought a remarkable blend of leadership, creativity, and heart to every aspect of our mission.

During his service, Richard became an unwavering advocate for the Mae's Closet Durable Medical Equipment program, helped expand access to essential nutrition as a volunteer driver with the Food Force program, and provided direct support to older adults as a volunteer driver with the RIDES+ program. He further strengthened the organization through his work on the Development Committee, helping guide strategic fundraising and community engagement.
For more than five years, Richard also served as the primary lead for Integrated Communications and Marketing, a role in which he transformed how IVCG tells its story. His leadership helped shape a refreshed mission and vision, guided the launch of a new organizational logo, elevated the visibility of nearly all active programs, and produced a multi-year newsletter series, "Connections", that deepened community understanding of IVCG’s
impact.

Richard’s commitment to service extends far beyond IVCG. He's been a longtime volunteer with Meals on Wheels America, ensuring vulnerable neighbors receive regular, reliable nutrition and human connection. Additionally, Richard contributes to civic understanding and public dialogue through his podcast, How Do We Fix It?, known for its tagline: “A repair manual for the real world.” His work highlights his ongoing dedication to improving communities through curiosity, conversation, and constructive problem-solving.

Richard Davies exemplifies what it means to be a Healthcare Warrior: compassionate, tireless, and deeply committed to improving the well-being of others. IVCG is honored to recognize his extraordinary volunteer service and leadership.

What's your LEGACY?

With our community programs - *VOLUNTEERS* are at the heart of everything we do. Their gifts (and the gifts from all supportive donors!) make our community better.

We've done the research - and we're excited to share THE recipe for a legacy you can be proud of:

*Start with 1 cup of *hope*.
*Add several 3-4 heaping scoops of *faith in your neighbors*.
*Add a pinch of *persistence*.
*Next - realize your *acts of kindness* can have a lasting impact.

*Mix your ingredients while reflecting on positive thoughts.
*Pour this into your hands or dump it on your head... Trust us with this... It will feel good :)

Next --> put this in the **oven of your heart** for one hour OR several days (you'll know how much time is needed...).

Finally -->Donate some comfortable amount of green $$ to activate the power of your example. Do that here: https://www.carenewhaven.org/donate

At this point - we're confident you'll be feeling proud! IF NOT --> here's the antidote...
--> Go speak with a young person about their dreams and get involved with the community as a volunteer.

This , your generosity helps IVCG continue connecting older adults with the compassionate support they need to live safely, independently, and with dignity.

Our mission is to combat loneliness, build community, and help seniors age in place with confidence. With a goal of raising $2,000, your gift strengthens the vital services we offer—from RIDES to medical appointment, to delivering meals through Food Force with our partner Loaves & Fishes, New Haven, offering DME with Mae's Closet, and much more.

Every contribution, big or small, fuels our mission and brightens the lives of the neighbors we serve. It’s simple, heartfelt, and a powerful way to grow our community of care.

Follow this link: https://www.carenewhaven.org/donate to make your donation—and help us keep compassion moving. 💛

As always, we thank you for your support.
