Thank you for all you do
Every year, the second week of April is a significant time for us to recognize and celebrate the fantastic work our Public Safety Telecommunicators do daily. This is when we observe National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, a tradition initiated in 1981 by Patricia Anderson of the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office in California.
Penobscot Regional Communications Center handles over 71,000 9-1-1 calls, 300,000 business line calls, and approximately 1.5 million radio transmissions for 66 Police Fire, and EMS agencies annually. The men and women who have chosen this calling are certainly one of a kind. It takes a particular person to answer the phone continuously and know they will speak to someone possibly experiencing the worst day of their life. Penobscot County is extremely lucky to have the best in the business answering these calls.
I am proud of the professional and dedicated staff that make up our agency. Every day, they come in to work and give 110% to be an integral part of the public safety system, and they save lives.
Please join us this week in celebrating the fantastic work our professionals do each and every day.
