Alabaster Families,
As many of you are aware, North Carolina has proposed significant cuts to Medicaid programs. We know that hearing this can feel overwhelming, and there’s a lot of information circulating right now. While things are still evolving, we want to share what we know so far and how you can make your voice heard.
What we know:
*Proposed cuts begin October 1, 2025 and will affect all Medicaid providers.
*How Medicaid is funded: NC contributes about one-third of the funding, while the federal government provides the remaining two-thirds. This means that for every $1 the state cuts, the overall impact is about $3 lost.
*Rate reductions: Medicaid providers are expected to see reductions of 3%, 8%, or 10%. The exact rates will be published soon in an updated fee schedule.
*Who is impacted: These cuts will affect all service types, including coordinated caregiving, consumer-directed services, and agency-directed services as well as case management and non-waiver services like therapies and medical providers.
What you can do:
*Reach out to your legislators: Tell them why fully funding Medicaid matters to you, your loved ones, and your community.
