We are excited to announce our very 1st husband and wife "Veterans of the Month"! Let us introduce both U.S. Army Captain Deborah Baumann M.D. and Major Richard Baumann M.D. of Hannibal MO.
Captain Deborah Baumann's military career began in medical school at the University of Missouri–Kansas City, where she participated in the Health Professions Scholarship Program. This program provided 4-years of educational support in exchange for a 4-year service commitment as a physician in the U.S. Army. Ultimately, Captain Baumann M.D. served 7-years active duty. She completed her medical training at Brook Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Following graduation from pediatric residency, Captain Baumann was stationed at Fort Hood, where she served as a general pediatrician caring for service members and their families. Later, she returned to San Antonio as staff, where she had the privilege of teaching medical students and residents—an experience she found deeply rewarding—prior to her discharge from military service.
Her husband, Major Richard Baumann M.D., was also a medical student with her in Kansas City and participated in the same scholarship program. He served 9-years in the U.S. Army, including additional assignments in Bosnia and at Fort Riley, Kansas.
Both the Captain and Major are PROUD U.S. Army veterans. "The opportunity to serve while receiving educational and financial support was a tremendous asset to our family and our careers. Today, we are proud members of our local American Legion and look forward each year to celebrating and honoring our fellow veterans."
We are honored to have both the Captain and the Major serve our community at Hannibal Regional and Midwest Orthopedic. Thank you, SOLDIERS!

ā„ļø BURR… It’s Cold Outside! ā„ļø

Winter weather may look beautiful, but snow and ice can create real hazards when it comes to staying active. Slippery sidewalks and freezing temperatures can make it tough to get in your daily walk or keep your body moving.

So how can you stay active during unpleasant winter days?

āœ… Try indoor walking options like:
šŸƒā€ā™‚ļø Your local YMCA or community center
šŸ‹ļøā€ā™€ļø Gyms or fitness facilities
šŸ›ļø Even larger retail stores or malls that offer warm, safe spaces to walk

Staying active is essential for everyday joint health—and it’s especially important during recovery from knee, shoulder, or other orthopedic surgeries. Gentle movement helps improve flexibility, strength, circulation, and overall healing.

✨ Have a favorite indoor spot to stay active this season? Share it in the comments!
