Have you ever called to make an appointment somewhere just to be told they couldn’t fit you in for weeks or even MONTHS?

Here at Small Steps Big Leaps, I know that time is of the essence (especially when it comes to our little ones!) which is why I schedule myself in a way that I can typically get babies seen within as little as a week or so.

Back to school!📚

As your child returns to school this fall, keep in mind that school-based speech service is not exactly the same as speech service through a private practice.

✨Schools have a different set of eligibility criteria than private practices
✨Private practices can have more flexibility in terms of service delivery (frequency, location, etc)
✨A child can participate in speech therapy both at school and at a private practice
✨A private practice therapist can also collaborate with the school team

The importance of reading with your child📚

Reading with your child stimulates healthy language growth. It helps the child get to know more sounds and words as well as helping their imagination and understanding of the world grow.

When reading with a child you can:
✨Ask them what they think will happen next
✨Describe new words to them
✨Read with expression
✨Make connections to their lives

Meet Lindsay McMurphy, M.S., CCC-SLP, the owner of Little Journeys Speech Therapy!

Lindsay graduated from Penn State University with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Since then, she has worked in early intervention, preschool, and school-age settings. Lindsay is a Natural Language Acquisition-trained clinician and is a certified educator in Pennsylvania. She has a passion for working on those pesky "r" sounds and non-verbal working memory tasks.

Fun Fact: In her spare time she loves to knit socks🧦

Lindsays greatest joy is seeing a child's confidence grow. She would be honored to join your child on their journey💚
