You may hear us talk about “Floortime”, but what does that actually mean?

Floortime (DIR® Floortime) is a developmental, relationship-based approach to supporting a child’s communication, emotional development, and connection skills.

We’re always looking for ways to support our amazing families, and we’re excited to share something new!

We’ve added a Special Instructor to our team who brings warmth, experience, and a wonderful talent for helping little learners grow through playful, structured activities.

Her sessions are especially helpful for children who are not quite ready for targeted speech or myofunctional therapy, but who would benefit from extra developmental support right now.

She helps children with:
✨ Early communication and engagement
✨ Attention, self-regulation, and following directions
✨ Confidence, social interaction, and foundational learning skills

These sessions offer gentle, whole-child support and help build the readiness skills children need before beginning more structured therapy.

Have you ever called to make an appointment somewhere just to be told they couldn’t fit you in for weeks or even MONTHS?

This can leave you feeling let down and like you’re left hanging which can be extremely frustrating.

Here at Small Steps Big Leaps, I know that time is of the essence (especially when it comes to our little ones!) which is why I schedule myself in a way that I can typically get babies seen within as little as a week or so.
