🐝 The Cub Club was BUZZING with excitement this week as we explored the wonderful world of insects! 🐞🦋🐝

Our little learners discovered what makes an insect an insect while diving into the fascinating lives of ladybugs, butterflies, and honeybees. Although we loved learning about them all, the class favorite was definitely the hardworking honeybee! 🍯

On Wednesday, our Cubs got hands-on by creating their very own bees using popsicle sticks and even used Cheetos to demonstrate how pollination works! The kiddos had so much fun watching the “pollen” travel from flower to flower while learning just how important bees are to our world. 🌼✨

Thursday was extra sweet because our very special friends from Sweet Harlan HoneyBees came to visit! They shared their knowledge about bees and beekeeping, brought real beekeeping gear, showed us their bees up close, and even let us taste some of their delicious honey! 🍯🐝

The Cub Club truly had a bee-autiful week! 💛🖤

🏇🌹 Derby Week in the Cub Club 🌹🏇

This week, our Cubs had so much fun learning all about the Kentucky Derby! We explored the exciting world of jockeys, horses, and the famous race right here in Kentucky.

Our little racers designed their own jockey silks, created their own horses, and even got to put their racing skills to the test by naming and racing their horses in our very own Cub Club Derby! 🐎

To get ready for our celebration, the Cubs decorated fancy hats and bow ties to wear for our Winner’s Circle Snack Social 🎩✨

Our Derby Day menu included:
🌟 Winner’s Circle Sliders (little ham sandwiches)
🌽 Goldenrod Gallop Popcorn
🍋 Cub Club Derby Splash (our special lemonade)🧁 Decorate-Your-Own Triple Crown Cupcakes

It was a fun-filled week of learning, creativity, and celebrating one of Kentucky’s most beloved traditions. ❤️🐻

🐑 🐖 🐄 Farm Day in the Cub Club 🐄🐖🐑

We wrapped up the farm portion of our habitat unit with a fun-filled Cub Club Farm Day!

Our Cubs stayed busy all day as they “sheared” sheep, put the pigs back in their pen, milked a cow, and washed the farm animals. They also got creative making popsicle stick puppets and even put on their own farm shows for friends!

We enjoyed lunch picnic-style on the playground and ended the day with some delicious farm-themed snacks. It was the perfect way to celebrate all we’ve learned about farm habitats.

It was a great day to be a Cub! 🐻💛

🌎💚 Happy Earth Day from the Cub Club! 💚🌎

Today we learned that we only have one planet Earth, and it’s important to take care of it and keep it clean. We also created coffee filter Earths and used “magic” spray to watch the colors spread and bring our planets to life!

We kicked off our celebration with an Earth Day freeze dance, then headed outside for an Earth scavenger hunt to explore the world around us.

Later, we put our knowledge and skills into action! The Cubs decided to make a difference in our school, so we went outside and picked up any litter we could find. They loved being outdoors and helping our planet. One student shared, “This is the best day ever!” while another exclaimed, “The earth is super happy!” 🌍✨

We ended our special day with an Earth Day-themed sweet treat — dirt cake ice cream — which was the perfect way to celebrate our hard work taking care of our planet! 🌱🍨♻️

We’re so proud of our little Earth helpers for learning how even small actions can make a big difference! 💙🌍

The Cub Club had a very special visitor today! State Representative Mitchum Whitaker stopped by to spend time with our preschool students during our farm animal theme week. He read the book “Chickens,” and the children were excited to listen, participate, and share their learning. 📕 ✨

During his visit, our students and staff shared the importance of early childhood education and how preschool helps build strong foundations for kindergarten readiness. 🎓🧠 The Cub Club proudly presented him with a Cub Club t-shirt to thank him for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit and read with them.

We are grateful for his interest in our youngest learners and for supporting opportunities that help our Cub Club grow, learn, and succeed. 🌱🐻
