We're Here to Stay.

There have been recent media and social media reports speculating about the future of SIH Harrisburg Medical Center. We want to be clear: SIH has no current or future plans to close SIH Harrisburg Medical Center.

This speculation stems from a national study by the University of North Carolina that identified hospitals potentially at risk, including ours. While we understand the concern this may cause, SIH Harrisburg Medical Center remains a vital part of our health system and our region.

As a local, not-for-profit health system and the region’s largest employer, SIH is committed to providing care to everyone in Saline County and beyond—today and for the future. We will continue to advocate for rural healthcare and work with our elected officials to protect the services our communities count on.

Nursing Meets Innovation at SIH

At SIH, onboarding new nurses just got a major upgrade with an Escape Room experience. Led by Nicci Haney, our nursing professional development outcomes leader, this interactive approach helps new nurses strengthen critical thinking, teamwork and real-time problem-solving while having fun.

The Escape Room is more than just a game—it’s a hands-on learning tool that brings classroom knowledge to life. New hires work together to solve medical puzzles under pressure, just like they would in real clinical settings.

Nicci’s creative approach is helping shape confident and well-prepared nurses from day one, and they’re escaping with more than just bragging rights.
