Our team has been busy this week! They proudly joined local celebrations across the region!

SIH St. Joseph Memorial Hospital thrived at the Murphysboro Apple Festival, bringing home a few awards:

1st Place & Most Beautiful Float - Grand Parade
1st Place - Business Category, Children's Pet & Hobby Parade
2nd Place - Hospital Lobby Window Display

Meanwhile, team members from SIH Harrisburg Medical Center, SIH Primary Care Harrisburg and Eldorado came together to march in the Harrisburg High School Hometown Heroes Homecoming Parade.

And the festivities keep going - look for our SIH Herrin Hospital crew in the Herrin High School Homecoming Parade next weekend!

🌟 Congratulations to our Emergency Department team at SIH Harrisburg Medical Center! 🌟

This incredible group was recently recognized with a “Star Celebration” for their outstanding commitment to sepsis care. Their consistent excellence with the sepsis bundle core measure is saving lives and setting the standard for quality care.

To mark the achievement, the team reviewed sepsis data, received handy resource tools for their badges, and celebrated their patient and team wins with star-themed treats.

Join us for the Hearts in Motion Awareness Walk on Saturday, September 27th, 2025, at Becker Pavilion on the SIU Carbondale Campus. Together, we'll take steps toward raising awareness of heart health while honoring survivors, supporting loved ones and encouraging healthier communities.

- Registration: $20 for individuals | $10 for healthcare profession students and heart disease survivors

On Women’s Equality Day, we’re proud to celebrate the women of SIH who lead with purpose and passion, including Tera Lannom, chief nurse executive at SIH Harrisburg Medical Center.

Tera has spent 21 years at SIH, building a career around one simple goal: to make a difference. Along the way, she’s watched women step into leadership roles, shape the future of care and inspire others to do the same.

Her story is also a family story. Tera’s daughter, Jadyn, is a nurse at SIH Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, and her other daughter, Noah, is completing her radiology clinicals at SIH. For Tera, seeing them choose careers in healthcare and thrive within SIH is deeply meaningful, both as a mother and as a leader.

Her advice for the next generation of women in healthcare?
“Never underestimate your ability to make a difference. Speak up, and trust your voice, because it matters.”

Today we honor Tera, and all the women of SIH, who continue to make a lasting impact on our patients, our teams and our communities.
