At Holt Memorial Chapel, we are proud to be the 𝑜𝑛𝑙𝑦 local funeral home that uses a dedicated lead vehicle to guide funeral processions to the cemetery.

Local law enforcement are often quick to assist as well, however they also might be called away to handle important law enforcement duties. That's why we are fully equipped to safely lead each procession ourselves if need be.

Our lead vehicle is fitted with bright LED strobe lights specifically designated for funeral processions- 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞.

The funeral coach (often referred to as a hearse) is reserved for your loved one. Our lead vehicle serves multiple purposes- not only guiding the way, but also carefully transporting flowers to services and graveside.

If a minister prefers not to drive, they are always welcome to ride in the lead car or the funeral coach- whichever is most comfortable.

Today is International Friendship Day — a beautiful reminder of one of life’s greatest blessings: true friends.

Friendship brings comfort in sorrow, joy in celebration, and strength in life’s everyday moments. A good friend listens, lifts, laughs with us — and sometimes just sits quietly beside us when words aren’t enough.

At Holt Memorial Chapel, we are honored to witness the powerful bond of friendship every day — in the way people show up for each other, support one another through loss, and celebrate lives well lived.

Let today be a celebration of the friends who have stood by your side — and a reminder to be that kind of friend to someone else.

Tag a friend you're thankful for, reach out to someone you haven’t spoken to in a while, or simply say, “I’m glad you’re in my life.”

Because in the end, it’s not just the years that count — it’s the people who walk beside us.

Today is National Parents' Day — a time to honor, cherish, and reflect on the incredible gift of good parents.

Good parents shape our lives in ways words can never fully capture. They guide us with patience, love us unconditionally, and model what it means to live with purpose and compassion. Whether we're raising children of our own, remembering the parents who raised us, or striving daily to be better for the next generation — this day is for all who pour themselves into the sacred calling of parenthood.

At Holt Memorial Chapel, we understand the deep impact a loving mother or father leaves behind. Their legacy isn't just in memories — it's in values passed on, lessons lived out, and the love that never fades.

Today, we honor the parents who raised us, the parents we strive to be, and the beautiful role of family that gives life its deepest meaning.

Let’s take a moment to celebrate, to be thankful, and to remember.

Not all of our services look the same... some are focused on simply loving and supporting the family of the one who has passed, some are full of stories of their life, sharing memories and enjoying laughter of small children running around the chapel, occasionally time is spent reminding others of his or her testimony.

Today's service, for Donnie Lex Wilson, was a combination of ALL these things and so much more.

Kin folk, friends, neighbors, church family- all ages, all backgrounds, all different connections to the life and testimony of Donnie... it was a beautiful sunny day for us all to gather together, much like it was on the day he was fishing in this photo.

Our Team here at Holt Memorial Chapel is truly touched by the number of people who came to visitation last night and to today's service. What a wonderful testament to Donnie Wilson's life on this earth.

We are here, if you should ever need us.

Today, while delivering flowers from the memorial service of my dear friend, Kathy Harman, to her sweet mother, Betty Harman, I had a touching encounter that I won’t soon forget.

As I was leaving, the next-door neighbor stepped outside and asked if I was an embalmer. I smiled and said, “Yes ma’am, I am.” She introduced herself as Mrs. Anita Cornett and explained that her father-in-law, Raymond Cornett, had been a funeral director and embalmer, and that her husband had actually grown up in the funeral home.

She then told me she had come across one of Raymond’s embalming school textbooks and wanted me to have it. I was genuinely honored. Judging by its aged binding and worn paper cover, it’s clearly a very old volume—full of history and meaning.

Thank you so much, Mrs. Anita Cornett, for your thoughtfulness and generosity. This unexpected gift is a unique piece of funeral service heritage, and I will treasure it.
