At Holt Memorial Chapel, family and service go hand in hand. This photo captures co-owner Phillip Collie alongside his son, Carson Phillip Collie, working together at a local church service — a meaningful reminder that dedication and compassion are best taught by example.

Carson has a natural heart for people and a genuine passion for serving others. Whether he’s handing out memorial folders, directing visitors, greeting guests with a warm smile, or helping wash and prepare the funeral vehicles to keep them in top-notch condition, Carson is always willing to lend a hand wherever he’s needed.

An active member of the Batavia Assembly of God youth group, Carson enjoys singing on the youth worship team and is learning to play both the piano and guitar. His kind spirit and willingness to serve reflect the same heart that has guided Holt Memorial Chapel for generations.

At Holt Memorial Chapel, every family we serve receives a follow-up survey asking for honest feedback about their experience. We truly value these responses — they help us recognize what we’re doing well and identify ways to serve families even better.

The other day, we received a call from a young man named 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐛 𝐇𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 & 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, and he opened with, “𝐼 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑠𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑦𝑜𝑢…” — which immediately got our attention. 😊

Caleb went on to explain that they currently operate out of a building where they recently discovered an old 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐭 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞 & 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐲𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐤. They were curious how old it might be, but more importantly, they shared that it had been getting “kicked around” the shop—and they didn’t want it to end up broken or forgotten. Instead, they wanted to make sure it found its way back to a place where it could be appreciated.

For a little history: 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐭 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞 (now known as Holt Memorial Chapel) 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝟏𝟗𝟐𝟒 (!), and the ambulance service portion of our operation ceased in the very early 1970s. This simple yard stick is a small but meaningful piece of not just our history—but our 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲’𝐬 𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲.

Today, it’s safely tucked away in a beautiful wood-and-glass display wall here in our offices, where it can be enjoyed, remembered, and shared for years to come.

Our team at Holt Memorial Chapel has been working hard to get 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 annual statements mailed before the end of the year. Members should be watching for their postcard statement to arrive soon.

The 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 was founded by L. C. Holt during the Great Depression to help families afford dignified burial services during difficult times. That mission continues today through Holt Memorial Chapel, serving thousands of members in Boone and surrounding counties.

While new Burial Association policies have not been sold for many years, we continue to administer the Association and encourage families to consider prepaid funeral plans as a modern alternative.

At Holt Memorial Chapel, we believe that the people who serve your family matter just as much as the care they provide. Today, we are honored to highlight one of our own — 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐩 𝐂. 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐞 𝐈𝐈, co-owner and manager of Holt Memorial Chapel.

A native of Dover, Arkansas, 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗽 has been part of the Boone County community since 2017, when he and his family moved to Harrison as he began pastoring Batavia Assembly of God. A 1995 graduate of Dover High School, 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗽 followed his calling into funeral service at Arkansas State University–Mountain Home, graduating from the mortuary college program in 2000.

Phillip married Rachel L. Hampton in 2003, and together they are the proud parents of Conner James (2007) and Carson Phillip (2011). He was ordained in 2014 during the 100th Arkansas District Council of the Assemblies of God, and the Collie family continues to make their home here in Harrison, where they remain active in ministry and well-known for their love of animals.

𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗽 began his funeral service career in 1996 in Russellville and has worked in the profession ever since. As a licensed funeral director and embalmer, he is respected throughout the region for his embalming and cosmetic skill, professionalism, and heart for serving families. Having worked in every aspect of funeral service, Phillip is deeply committed to preserving and elevating the tradition of excellence that Holt Memorial Chapel has offered Boone and surrounding counties since 1924. He also serves as the secretary/treasurer of the Boone County Burial Association.

When he isn’t serving families, Phillip enjoys time with his loved ones, exploring the outdoors, and pursuing his unique interests in antique professional cars (hearses and ambulances), draft horses, and horse-drawn vehicles.

We are grateful for Phillip’s steady leadership, his compassion for families, and his dedication to continuing the legacy of service that defines Holt Memorial Chapel.
