Welcome back for the spring semester! As you settle in, take a moment to check in with yourself. This semester what do you need to take care of your well-being? How can you build self-care into your routine?

There are so many resources on campus here to support you... Stop by the Counseling Center to use our self-care spaces, join us for a workshop, or visit us for customized resource recommendations & care. We're here for you!

Therapy Cat, Pen’s tips for wrapping up winter break:

1. Ease back in, don’t pounce.
Going from cozy naps to class schedules is a big leap. Try adjusting your sleep and routine a little at a time. Even cats stretch before they move.

2. Feel all the feels.
Excited? Sad? Stressed? Worried about missing home? Totally normal. There’s no “right” way to feel as break ends. Let emotions pass like clouds in the sky.

3. Pack kindness for yourself.
You don’t have to be productive every moment. Rest, snacks, water, and self-compassion are essential supplies.

4. One paw at a time.
You don’t need to prep the whole semester today. Focus on the next small step, like checking your Canvas, your syllabus, or setting reminders.

5. Stay connected.
Text or call a friend, make plans to meet others for a meal, find a study buddy, check-out upcoming club/org meetings and campus events... Even independent cats value their people.

Remember: support is here. If the transition feels ruff (or… cat-astrophic), we’re here to help. Counseling is a safe space to connect with resources and care. Our Counseling Center team is in your corner.

Be gentle with yourself as you prepare for the start of the Spring 2026 semester. 🐾

You've got this, Dukes! Remember to take extra care of yourself this week. Making sure to sleep, drink water, eat healthy meals, breathe, move your body, and take breaks call all help you feel your best.

Looking to relax in a massage chair or create during your break? Then stop by the Counseling Center's Oasis relaxation space (M-F, 8:30am-4:30pm) or the Center's Studio creative arts space (M-F, 10am-2pm).
