In June, Paulette was featured in this CNN article about patients who were left in the dark regarding their treatment despite their many options. Paulette wrote about this struggle a few times on her blog in posts like "What Patients Can Teach Their Doctors About Cancer" https://goo.gl/WEM5et. Check out what Paulette contributed to the CNN article: https://goo.gl/4DtWzg. Thank you to Liz Testa for sharing the article!

Some cancer patients are largely kept in the dark because their doctors either can't or won't communicate clearly. Many patients compound the problem by avoiding news they don't want to hear.

In life if we are lucky we will know people we can call a good neighbor, luckier still to have people we can call friends andtruely blessed to have people who are our best friends. There are many definitions of faith, but the one I choose to stand on comes from Hebrews 11:1. “Now faith is bein...

Home Sweet Home. I am now at home after a 6-day stay at the hospital. During my stay, my medical team and I decided I will stop receiving conventional treatment. I am now on home palliative care, which focuses on comfort, pain management, and increasing my strength through physical therapy. Because my energy level is so depleted, I cannot respond to all of your messages. But, I see them, and I welcome them. Please pray for me, Marc, and Amari. We appreciate cards and letters at our home in Bethany. Our address is included in my post today. I love you. God bless you. I am still on the journey.

I came home from the hospital this past Wednesday evening after a six-day stay. I had developed a couple of infections that were treated. I have been sent home on antibiotics to continue the treatment. During my stay, my medical team and I (including my medical oncologist of 8 years) came to

On my 12 year wedding anniversary, I find myself in a hospital bed at Yale New Haven Hospital. It is a rough time for me. I am afraid because cancer has already ravaged my body for years, but as I look ahead to my son's 10th birthday, and my 50th, I am not ready to give up hope. I long to celebrate more milestones!
My blog post today serves as an update for my family members and friends. I need your love, prayers, support, and encouragement. I am still on the journey. Thank you to my friend, Liz Testa, for her assistance in crafting this post.

Greetings, friends! Yesterday marked a one year anniversary of sorts for me. Last year on July 20, I blacked out, drove my vehicle through the brick wall of the fire station in Bethany, CT, and emerged on the other side physically unscathed. In my post today (https://goo.gl/4vhtK7), I share more details about God's incredible grace toward me that day and my faith that God will bring me through the figurative brick wall I am facing now. What metaphorical brick wall are you facing? Thank you for taking this journey with me. I love you all, and God bless!

One year ago, God saw fit to have me go through a literal brick wall. I emerged on the other side, unscathed, to continue to fulfill my mission in the world. If God brought me through that, then surely this year as I face a figurative brick wall, I will again emerge unscathed.
