MS in the Midwest This is a page about the struggles & blessings of living with multiple sclerosis.. My summers in Colorado were awesome! So then my page was MS in the Mountains!

I am a wife, mom & physical therapist...I love God...I enjoy craft beer, good food & all things chocolate...I like to hike, snowshoe & XC ski, watch medical TV and cooking shows, make lists & keep track of my life in my planner...and I have multiple sclerosis. We moved to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado in September 2017 from northern Illinois. One huge reason was so that I could be more active and enjoy the outdoors, especially in the summer. You see, the heat & humidity of Illinois made me a shut-in during the summers. Heat exacerbates my symptoms...and then when I cool down I’m completely wiped out. I could go on hikes and do other fun things and my body can handle it! But alas, life happens and we were relocated to the Des Moines area for my husband's job. So now I'm back dealing with the heat and humidity...that's MS in the Midwest!!! So join me on this page to share my journey with MS, learn more about MS including research & news, get information about the fundraising I do and how you can help, discover both the struggles & the blessings I experience with my MS, and just share life with me!

The National MS Society is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Teri Garr. She gave so much of herself to the MS movement and helped many others by sharing her own journey with this disease. Our hearts and thoughts are with all who knew and loved her.

Amy's Awesome Alliance is getting ready for tomorrow...our Des Moines team is growing and I'm excited that several friends & family are joining us this year, from both near & far. This will be our biggest team yet since being in Iowa.

I'm very blessed to have such amazing support...my hope would be that each person living with MS would be blessed with the same, because like any struggle & trial in life, we can't do it alone.

The weather forecast shows that Saturday for Walk MS should be a beautiful day! One thing I've always loved about this event is seeing all the people come together for a common cause...and of course, having my team there full of friends & family means the world to me!

Amy's Awesome Alliance is no longer #1 in Des Moines but I'm still very proud to be currently #2...of course, the standings are not that important, it's just a fun competition (but do I like to win??? you bet I do!!!). What's important is raising money for services and research and everything else that goes to support those living with MS.

Thanks to another awesome donation, the card is FULL! Thanks to everyone who participated and helped raise money for The National MS Society on behalf of Amy’s Awesome Alliance. Our team total is now $4016…and soon another $1000 will be added because of our amazing anonymous donor!
