We’re excited to announce that several Claiborne Senior Living communities in Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee have once again earned the WELL Health-Safety Rating from the International WELL Building Institute.

Renewing this rating matters because it’s not just a one-time accomplishment. Each year, an independent third party reviews our performance in areas like air and water quality, cleaning routines, emergency readiness, and our connections with residents, staff, and the wider community.

Receiving this rating again for so many of our communities shows what we already know about our teams. Their daily efforts to keep our communities safe and healthy never stop. It’s simply how we do things.

Residents at The Claiborne at Baton Rouge are showing us what meaningful engagement really looks like.

A couple of years ago, resident Rudolph "Coach Red" Smith started things off with a signup sheet. Since then, the Gardening Club has grown to 18 members and is transforming both the independent and assisted living courtyards. Residents Jim Mire and Judy Hale have now taken the lead, planting everything from amaryllis and zinnias to herbs the kitchen now uses in resident meals.

But this story is about more than flowers. Neighbors gather at tables to transplant seedlings together. Residents have chipped in over $400 to support the club. One 92-year-old assisted living resident even tagged along on a flower-shopping trip, simply because he loves the garden so much.

In senior living, we talk a lot about getting residents involved. This is what it looks like when they have the space to lead.
