We are looking forward to the completion of the new Crisis Stabilization Unit in Purvis! The 16 bed facility will allow individuals in crisis to be evaluated and stabilized on site. This is a great addition to Lamar and Forrest Counties.

“We don’t want to take someone who has a mental health diagnosis and put them in jail when they’ve not committed any crime,” said Rita Porter, director of adult services at Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources. “Often doing that will re-traumatize someone who already has a lot of difficulties functioning in the community anyway.”
