Our Story
Manny Abreu
Licensed Massage Therapist #1599
I was born in Isabela, Puerto Rico. I have a B.S. in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras and an associates degree in Natural Science from the University of Puerto Rico in Utuado. I played basketball from age of seven through college, even having the opportunity to represent my country in tournaments in the United States. During this time, I injured my wrist multiple times. The shoulder injury eventually required surgery, physical therapy, and massage for healing.
The multiple problems I had as a result of my sports activities led me to want to learn more about how the body works and how one can recover from injuries. Therefore, I moved to Gainesville, Florida, where studied therapeutic massage and hydrotherapy at The Florida School of Massage. In my continuing education, I have focused on sport massage, myofascial therapy, and deep tissue massage. I am also a certified Synergetic Myofascial Therapist, having finished the 200 hours certification with Magnus Eklund. The work is based on the 10 series of Dr. Ida Rolf.
During the years that I have received massage therapy for my shoulder, I have regained complete motion of my arm, as well as prevented additional problems. I have firsthand experience and knowledge of the benefits of massage, and my goal as a therapist is to help my clients to feel better physically and go to lead pain-free lives.
