Aloha!🤙🏼

I’m Molly and I have lived in Hawaii for two years.

Before moving to the islands, I lived in North Carolina, Virginia, Texas, and New York.✈️

I have worked as an occupational therapist in hospitals, nursing homes, schools and rehab centers for 8 years.

After doing this work across multiple settings, I started to notice my enthusiasm for it go away. I became cynical and bitter towards my profession.

Not too long later, this turned into chronic anxiety and the stress felt unbearable.

Moving to Hawaii was the catalyst I needed to start my healing journey.

And even though I was still working in the clinical setting, I started to seek out alternative healing practices to cope with the stress.

I enrolled in health and nutrition coaching, took on new classes, studied holistic modalities, worked with mentors, sought out healers, and focused on getting my mindset right.

And within these two years of healing on Hawaii, I have rediscovered my true spirit.

So, mahalo to the aina, to the local community, and to everything in between.

Ask for help on tasks that feel overwhelming.

We are juggling more and more in our lives everyday.

And while it may seem everyone else is doing it seamlessly, chances are they have support!

If you’re feeling the overwhelm from tasks and projects, seek the support you need.

There is no shame in having help, especially if you’re aiming for big goals that bring you joy.

Take some time today and see what tasks you can delegate to a loved one, spouse, child, friend, or professional.

This can help you feel less stressed while making someone else know that their support is needed.

Spend time writing down what you are grateful for.

Give yourself a few moments to reflect on the last few days, months, or years.

List out things that you are grateful for…. Even if at the time it was an unpleasant experience.

This practice of gratitude will shift your attitude towards positivity.

That way, you can view all experiences as lessons and opportunities for growth.

Making this practice a daily habit can be one of the easiest ways to create a positive mindset.

Go for a walk in nature

Nature

Spend some time today outdoors, away from the screens, news, media, and information.

Simply let your senses be present to the world around you.

Take a walk or a drive outside of your normal environment can give you a different perspective.

This way, you can return to your daily activities with fresh eyes and a clear mind.

As always be SAFE when going out in nature. Check in on the weather, go with friends, and let people know where you are going. But most importantly, enjoy it.

Try a new class or a hobby.

Step outside your comfort zone and try out a new skill!

This is a great way to get present to any experience. When we apply our attention learning a new hobby, we are working on our focusing skills.

Try something new that feels fun and exciting!

A few things to try could be a different work out class, a cooking class, a creative craft, a new game….

Keep it simple so you have fun with the process of learning!

Take a few minutes to speak a loving message to yourself.

What is it that you like about yourself?

What is it that you want to be more of?

Use these questions to build an affirmation in the present tense as if it is a true, statement.

Try something like, “I am grateful and happy. I am strong and confident.”

This practice will shift your mindset towards positivity and self empowerment.

Nine is my favorite number. Not only is it both my birth day and month, it is the last single digit number.

It signifies the end of a cycle and represents wisdom gained from experiencing the preceding events.

On day 9, practice self awareness through present-moment thinking.

This attention to the moment can help you learn the lessons of the past to apply to the future.

When you are able to do this, you gain wisdom. Ultimately, allowing you to feel and BE fulfilled in everything you do.

DAY 6

What’s your favorite inspiring or life-altering book?

One that stands out to me is “You are a Badass” by Jen Sincero.

I picked it up one day to read it. After that day, I didn’t touch it again.

Six months later when I was cleaning, it reappeared.

I decided to give it another shot.

I finished the book within a week.

It was the book I needed in that moment of my life to spark a perspective change.

From then on, I have developed intentionality and awareness with everything I do.

Reading inspiring books has taught me more about myself and encourage me become more mindful.
