ā¤ļø No one likes to feel their child needs additional support, but man what a difference it can make. Whether thatās tutoring or support in school, speech, PT or OT, or help with behavior and emotions- showing them itās okay to get help and watch them grow after makes such a difference!
Sometimes the hardest part of motherhood is admitting your child needs help⦠and realizing it doesnāt make you a bad mom⦠it makes you a good one.
No one prepares you for that moment.
The moment a professional says, āYour child needs extra support.ā
It hits you in a place you didnāt even know existed.
For me, it was speech.
Hearing the words. Sitting in the car afterward.
Feeling the mix of guilt, fear, and wondering what I couldāve done differently.
That quiet moment where your heart breaks a little because you want their path to be easy⦠and suddenly it isnāt.
But hereās what I learned:
Getting help isnāt a setback, itās a step forward.
Early intervention is strength.
Therapy is love in action.
And advocating for your child?
Thatās one of the most powerful things a mother can ever do.
Watching my daughter grow, find her words, and gain confidence has been one of the most beautiful chapters of motherhood.
Not because it was perfect, but because it was hard⦠and we pushed through it together.
To any mama hearing those words for the first time:
You didnāt fail.
You didnāt do anything wrong.
Your child doesnāt need a ādifferent mom.ā
They just need you⦠the mom who shows up, the mom who fights, the mom who tries, the mom who loves so fiercely that sheāll walk through any obstacle with them.
And that?
That makes you a damn good mother. ā¤ļø
