Cauliflower is a highly nutritious, low-calorie, and low-carb cruciferous vegetable packed with fiber, vitamin C, and antioxidants. One cup provides over 75% of your daily vitamin C needs, along with Vitamin K, folate, and choline. The fiber content promotes a healthy digestive system, while certain compounds support liver function and detoxification.
Cauliflower is versatile and can be used as a low-carb substitute for rice, pizza crust, mashed potatoes, or roasted as a side dish. While raw cauliflower provides the most antioxidants, cooking it can make it easier to digest. Yum! Let's try some!

It's Springtime 🐛 at South County Multi-Service Center,🌷so we turned the soil to prep the beds and found potatoes! 🥔These potatoes are "volunteers" from last year's crop which was not very successful, but by keeping the soil healthy over the winter, using a mix of nitrogen-fixing peas as a cover crop, and general care we grew new ones! 🥔You can see some of the last pea pods among the potatoes in the photo. We also harvested our last three carrots 🥕. Next week we will plant tomatoes🍅, peppers🌶, and eggplants🍆.

Another year has passed so we wanted to share some of the things we have done over the past year including working with our partners like Oakland Unified School District - Early Childhood Education Department and Oakland Housing Authority to support children, adults and seniors in learning to create their own healthy behaviors. Things like eating more fruits and vegetables, getting more physical activity and consuming less sugar are important topics we talk about often.

This past year our team has grown and then shrunk and here, we remember the incredible work each of them contributed to our community and our team! (Highlight reel pics in no particular order.)
