Today I had the pleasure of meeting .kanan and his wife. It was a really fun experience to listen to them speak and open up for Q/A.
Sean was super kind and made me wish we had more time as a group. There were people who knew him from his work as a soap actor and those who know his work more from the martial arts side. There was a young man who asked Sean about dealing with struggles and I felt for him. I saw at more of a 1:1 interaction that Sean took the time to address his concerns a bit more. As the day progressed, I thought more about him felt I wish I could have also said something to him. What we know in our 20’s and struggles often suck but with age and experience and failures we learn more on how to deal with these things. As young adults some seem to have the magic touch and deal with it better and others mask it as best as they can and try to get through the hurdles we face. If .kanan knows his name, hopefully he will know I’m thinking of this young man who is weighing on my heart this evening.

This post from is something that I can relate to. Although this is geared towards pregnancy loss, it’s for losses in general.
When I lost my mom 12 years ago, I took a week off of work and when I came back from being out of town, my a-hole boss asked how my vacation was. Seriously taking time off for a death is not a flipping vacation!
Dealing with the estate wasn’t going smoothly and added stress and anger from people who expected me to snap back to it so easily.
1 year ago I lost my other parent and I have much better experience on what to do, what is expected and my feelings.
On Christmas Day my uncle died, that hit hard! He was 7 years older than me. He was the baby of his siblings and we had become closer over 2021 and I was dealing with my own loss when he died so I didn’t have a chance to reach out and thank him for his support from Oct till his death. Guilt from the loss of not being able to speak to him before he died sucks.
This past year I have stepped back from social media and the drama from people who have complained about trivial things has been important to me as people have seriously changed since the events of 2020.
Giving myself grace and time to heal and navigate my feelings and thoughts and life changes such as 2 new dogs has been important this past year!
I can say I do need a vacation as 2019-present we haven’t had a vacation! That chance to step away for a mental break is SO important!!
Others never know what someone else is going through or feeling. There are days that feel odd as I am alone from the one constant I knew from my life since day one.
We know loss happens and people die but they also expect to have you snap back to normal instantly and sweep your feelings under the rug asap. A lesson I learned 12 years ago.
Self care and taking care of yourself is important and if you need more time to heal from your loss than do it!!
One thing is one truly won’t understand till they lose both parents.

I’m disappointed!
Back in January I received from this note card with a $100 gift code to use in her store.
Immediately I tried to use it and it didn’t work. 😢
I reached out to her via email and asked if there was an expiration date for it even though it has nothing on it. I received zero response from her or her team in reply to my email.
I came across this again when cleaning my planner out and figured I would email her again. No response again.
Honestly why send something out if you can’t honor the discount? It feels like it was false advertising of offering a gift have zero expiration date noted and I try it 2 days after it was received in January by USPS.
As an avid follower of hers for years I can say that this experience has affected my opinion and views of her.
Her followers don’t seem to be valued but are instead a form of a cha-Ching. It’s buy my book, buy my book tour and fly to see me, use my code link for my meat box, grocery box or my probiotics. Does anyone want to buy my camp Christmas enrollment from me at a discount? Upon payment I will send you all the zoom links for all the “fun” for the month of July.
I enrolled on the first day prior to them announcing who the team captains were. Had I known in advance who the team captain was, I would have chosen a different team. They refuse to allow me change teams.
I paid $69 and am selling it for $50. Get it from me before they raise their prices even more! Will send invoice!

Just like that another original owner on our block is gone.
Although we didn’t speak often as I had more history with her ex-husband. I could recognize her voice anywhere. It’s sad to see someone go that you have seen almost weekly for over a decade. Hopefully she and her kids will like their new life in Florida. Such a change from the southwest. I hope that her ex will be able to see the kids despite them being so far away. He knew it would happen when he told me on NYE she was going to sell and move. However a 5 hour flight + time difference of 3 hours makes it hard for a parent whose separated from their kids.
The last set of original owners left 3 years ago to go 3 miles away from the house.
Change is bound to happen in life, but it isn’t always easy for those involved.

Tried a new creation for a recipe tonight for dinner.
It was creamy without cream
Had mushrooms chicken, spinach and my sauce.
A quick and easy 1 dish meal that didn’t take long.
Will do 1 more time today make sure recipe is good.

Last night I attended a zoom call with and and Ashlee. I was excited I was able to attend. It was so worth it and even therapeutic.
Cara and her team has always shown that they care about YOU and you aren’t just a form of revenue to them. You can email questions and get answers, her Facebook community is one of positivity. They are active in the community and post often and answer questions from members almost daily.
This zoom call happens 2x a year and it’s always so helpful and informative that I wish we had it quarterly or monthly. It was also nice to talk to people who have had similar issues such as that jerk dr who screamed at you as if you eat fast food 24/7 for all meals and your high cholesterol can’t possibly be related to your Hashimotos.
If you ever want to have a cheerleader and a better path to healthy life from food and beyond, Cara is your gal!
I will be honest with you that I am also part of a Grain Free Authors community and not once did she ever ask how “we” are! Instead the closest thing to it was asking for testimony on how her cookbooks were for you. It was a bigger turnoff when she decided to keep the community and rarely post, never answers questions and even deleted posts from questions that she didn’t want to answer apparently.
Surround yourself with a people who inspire and uplift you and make you feel important.

Over the weekend I made cookies for a dog pawty for my pups gotcha day.
I had ordered the face cookie cutter of my dog from and I love it!!
I’m sure I was extra high maintenance with my 50 questions and needy of wanting the perfect photo for it, but the owner April was amazing to work with.
This here is the first cookie I made with the cutter and it was so cute!!
I also used my rolling pin for the first time and I loved it so easy to use.
These dog friendly cookies are so easy to make and have clean ingredients. Just peanut butter, pumpkin and oat flour.

The other day I made chicken pot pie from scratch in my Le Creuset] apple dish.
Wish that Le Creuset] would release this again in the cast iron! It’s perfect for easy cleanup and a fun dish. I use it often.
Pot pie is dairy free and gluten free with lots of flavor.

In December I picked up a copy of Life From Scratch by
It was a good quick read. Sold as a cookbook it was part autobiography and to be honest I wish it was more of an autobiography and less cookbook as the recipes were something that was mainly processed ingredients. While I know the recipes weren’t going to be amazing, I was left wanting more from the biography side!
One thing I loved from this book that Vanessa did was at the back she had note pages, which I now have decided more cookbook authors should do! Perfect for modifying recipes or other notes associated with recipe books. Especially those that are gluten free and find some recipes have ingredient brands that work better than others.
All in all still a good one and I hope she someday writes another book.
