Sanitary Disposal and Circular Action Alliance have opened a new RecycleOn Center right here in Hermiston. ♻️

Drop off items from the list below for free, keeping these recyclables out of the landfill.

• Plastic bags and other stretchy plastics, like the wrapping around toilet paper
• Plastic lids, from containers like yogurt, salsa and sour cream
• Plastic caps, from containers like soymilk, glass jars and broth containers
• Plastic package handles, such as six-pack drink carriers
• Plastic buckets and pails
• Shredded paper in a paper bag that is stapled or rolled shut
• Aluminum foil and trays
• Glass bottles and jars

No matter the weather, Oregonians look out for each other. The Oregon Department of Transportation reminds everyone how important it is to get to know Oregon crosswalk laws.

🚗 When Driving: Under Oregon law (OR 811.028) every intersection is a legal crosswalk. You must safely stop for people showing intent to cross the street at a marked or unmarked crosswalk or at a marked mid-block crosswalk.

🚶‍♀️‍➡️🚶‍➡️When Walking: Signal your intent to cross at marked and unmarked intersections, or marked midblock crosswalks. Show intent to cross by extending your hand, foot, wheelchair, cane, crutch or bicycle into the roadway. Drivers should yield right of way. For your safety, make sure vehicles moving in all lanes and in both directions have stopped before proceeding.

Here's an update this morning on road closures:

Pendleton to La Grande: Closed both directions

Baker City to La Grande: Westbound lanes closed

Ontario to Baker City: Westbound lanes closed to trucks

Also North Powder School District will be on a 2-hour delay today.

HIGHWAY CLOSURE UPDATE, I-84 EASTBOUND CLOSED BETWEEN PENDLETON AND BAKER CITY

EASTERN OREGON -- UPDATE 9:10 PM (From ODOT) Eastbound I-84 is closed between Pendleton and Baker City (milepost 216-304) due to multiple spun-out and stuck vehicles blocking the interstate. Winter weather is prompting chain conditions throughout the corridor. Use Tripcheck.com for chain requirement locations and information and plan accordingly. Local highways are not viable detour routes for interstate traffic. Expect eastbound closure to last well into the night. Westbound I-84 has reopened between Baker City and La Grande.
