For Cash...
Anyone who personally knows me will say that I am passionate about yoga and all the benefits that come with focusing on breathing. I am also madly in love with my horses. These two go hand in hand for me. In early 2019 my walker, Cash, developed a cough and some labored breathing. Not being satisfied with it’s “just heaves,” I hauled him to a clinic in Ohio for more testing. His cough (that didn’t sound right to me) turned out to be the result of a Dorsal Displacement of the Soft Palate. But he also had low grade heaves. I was heartbroken. We had just started conditioning for endurance rides and having a blast. He has always been my peppy and forward Tennessee Walker, and to see him miserable and breathing hard was devastating. I, at one time, considered selling him because I thought he was going to be too much horse for me to handle. His high energy and my high energy were like fuel on fire. I didn’t want to give up though. That’s when I started practicing yoga and learning how to breathe and channel my energy and emotions around him. The change was drastic! We have put on hundreds and hundreds of miles together. This past year, I told him once again, I would not give up on him and I would remain loyal to keeping him comfortable.
After countless nights of research, praying, and a personal experience with halotherapy, I decided this is what I wanted to do for Cash and horses from all over. This therapy is not just for horses with respiratory or skin conditions. It is for any horse to prevent infection and keep the lungs in optimal shape. My other walker, Sully, has sweet itch. He lives the summers covered head to hoof like many others. Using the micro-fine areosol mist of pharmaceutical grade salt on his skin takes down inflammation and helps to heal the open sores. Giving comfort and relief to horses and their owners who share my story is my ultimate goal; or if you just want to keep the respiratory hygiene of your athletes in tip - top shape. All horses deserve santosha, deep contentment and joy. Making space to live in the moment, to accept what comes, and to create a brand new story. Inhaling the positive and exhaling the negative!
