He earned his Doctorate of Medicine from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, New York, where he also completed an internship and ophthalmology residency. Finally, he completed a Vitreoretinal Surgery Fellowship at Valley Retina Institute in McAllen, Texas. Dr. Kartvelishvili has been seeing patients with Wolfe Eye Clinic since 2015.

Dr. David Massop recently returned from a mission trip to Ixtapa, Mexico where he and other ophthalmologists performed 108 cataract surgeries throughout 4 days for the local residents. Many of these individuals would not have had access to this vital care, but have had a life-changing experience due to Dr. Massop's compassion and commitment to restore vision.

As part of the ChOSEN (Christian Ophthalmic Surgery Expedition Network) Nicaragua Mission Trip, our very own Ophthamologist, Dr. Hu, along with his team, helped restore proper eyesight to hundreds of patients in Nicaragua, performing over 500 vision-saving/improvement procedures in just 5 days! πŸŒŽπŸ’™ Some patients traveled days by bus or boat to receive free world-class care. Surgery Center Cedar Rapids is proud to support Dr. Hu in his mission to make a lasting impact across the globe.
