Louanne:
Today I said good bye to my husband, friend and love of 32 years. Our journey as a blended family has been one of love, fun and adventure. My heart aches but we are so proud of Greg for his bravery and conviction to die with dignity rather than live a life of reliance on others with no memory of who is family is. We have celebrated Greg and showered him and each other with our love. Friends have beautifully and bravely called to share fun stories and tell Greg how important he has been in their lives and said a final good bye.
Greg and I are so proud of our children who have supported their dad and me 100%. We have honoured his decision with courage, love and fun. We have cried thousands of tears and laughed uncontrollably. Walked, talked, played and watched family favorite movies together over these last few days.

Upon Greg’s formal diagnosis of Alzheimer’s and Dementia, I made a plan to spend as much time as we could with each of our children and other family members over the course of the year because we knew ‘today is our best day’, even when it was bad it was still going to be our best day. So we traveled the country and the US making new memories, wrapping up in Nova Scotia in November to hold our newest grandchild.

Greg’s love for me has never waiverd. His arms around my shoulders has been like a warm comfy blanket. I love you Greg and know …a Piece of my heart goes with you.

For anyone who would like to celebrate Greg’s life, a service will be held Tuesday January 9 at 7 pm at the Cobourg alliance Church. All welcome

Should you wish: in lieu of flowers donations are welcome in his name to the Northumberland Hills Hospital, where he served on the board when they were planning the new hospital.

I love you always, Greg.

Yesterday my neice suffered a huge crash while racing in the woman’s downhill World Cup. She was having a fabulous run. I believe her top speed was clocked at 114km. Unfortunately just before crossing the finish line she caught an edge and crashed. She was airlifted to the hospital where she is being taken care of. She is has not sustained any life threatening injuries but her road to recovery will take some time. I’m told she will keep us posted with updates
