As American Heart Month comes to a close, remember that heart health is a year-round commitment. Prevention is always key. Stay active, eat a balanced and nutritious diet, and keep up with your annual physical exams.
Be proactive—learn the signs and symptoms of a heart attack and understand how to respond quickly and appropriately if they occur. Consider taking a CPR class. Knowing what to do in an emergency could help save a life.

February is American Heart Month. There are over 350,000 out-of- hospital cardiac arrests a year. Of those, 23,000 are children. Ninety percent of those arrests are fatal. One of the ways to decrease mortality rates among out-of-hospital cardiac arrests is to receive immediate CPR and AED response. Sadly, less than 40% will receive bystander CPR. (AHA)
