Alif Yoga has been MIA from social media since we 'stepped' into our virtual classrooms with Oro Bear by our side but then again we weren't ever really chatty on this platform to begin with. Consider us, the bees 🐝 that hum along quietly making 🍯.
Now we're looking for a few more certified yoga instructors to join our hive in the Socal area (children's yoga & workplace yoga - on location).

One of my fav. postures is crow pose (bakasana). So, I play around with it a lot. I've come to create what I call a 'half/side crow' It's that somewhat challenging posture I talk about in Voicebowl's GENTLE STRENGTH - 30 min. Total Body Yoga video and article. This was my 3rd time teaching this routine virtually that day and I was feeling all kinds of yummy soreness + a bit worn too but this posture pulls and pushes me at the same time and centers me 💖. Don't be intimated by it; have fun with it! I certainly did and am so happy I was able to lead our Voicebowl yogi readers in this short & sweet yoga class as well.

🔊 Having had plenty of time for thoughtful creativity, we are now ready to introduce Alif Yoga's 'beary' friendly yoga instructor, Oro Bear! While he is a true Californian, wild & free, sunshine & real vibes, he has agreed to fill a virtual need for our schools. ☀️
Oro has leaped from the pages of my upcoming book, ORO BEAR'S YOGA JOURNEY 🐻 into an educational cartoon with Alif Yoga's fun and mindful yoga curriculum for our Distance Learning Program. Our engaging instructors hope to drop into the screen for some facetime with our littlest yogis as well.
Alif Yoga and Oro bear honor the in-person yoga student/teacher relationship and feel it is essential for healthy learning. We hope to see our yogis in-person as soon as it is safe.

A soulful yogi, Olympic trials qualifier with a masters in education joined the Alif Yoga team today. Observing her deep and thoughtful nature guide our challenging little yogis with surya namaskaras and story in shavasana about rising was both beautiful and effective. Her connectivity to her roots and desire to make a difference in the world is a true inspiration. We welcome talented Grace and her light into the lives of our students. 🙏🏽

It took me almost two years to really understand SNL star, Tina Fey's belief about being a leader. She said, "In most cases being a good boss means hiring talented people and then getting out of their way." Last year I started to implement this understanding and breathe a sigh of relief each day knowing that our curriculum and philosophy are in talented hands. It takes great faith in others and confidence in yourself to nourish and grow a business, project or cause but if you put out meaningful work, humble yourself before your team and allow them to impart their talents, it can mean success for all.

In awe with this deeply conscientious Alif yogi. Observing her in class was a true pleasure. She knew our lesson plan like the back of her hand and led students with stoicism and a rare tenderness. Ashley's teaching our little yogis with the same discipline and grace she teaches her adult students and that's the Alif Yoga method: Children are brilliantly intelligent and don't need us to water anything down for them. She nailed teaching them Sanskrit words, a breathing technique and postures, all held together by an engaging yoga philosophy. Beyond honored to have gorgeous (inside and out) Ashley be a part of the Alif Yoga team. 🙏🏾

Being socially conscious as a business big or small means standing up for humamity even if you're standing alone. While yoga is a practice that dates back to Pre-India, yoga is still known as an art from what we know as India today and certainly has it's roots there now. It saddens me to know that the country that has brought us the beautiful art of yoga is commiting the violent crime of occupation in Kashmir just like the endless, violent occupation of Palestine. I hope and pray that the Indian government returns to the true yogic principal of Ahimsa (non-violence and non-harm) particularly towards the innocent. All faiths believe in justice and compassion yet greed and political gain veer us off the path in unspeakable ways. My thoughts and energy are with the people of Kashmir under Indian occupation and those around the world who suffer in the same way. Every voice counts and I ask that you look for a just cause to speak up about, no matter the cost.

My biggest, littlest supporter; my niece is always sporting her pink Alif Yoga shirt 😘 It's inspiring me to be more creative with our new adult T-shirt designs for 2019/2020. Our instructors love the jewel tones💍but maybe it's time for brighter colors🦄🌈 I always remind our instructors that we are NOT performers and we need not clown ourselves up for our little yogis but maybe using the chakra colors in our tees could add another layer to our yoga philosophy themed lesson plans!!! ⚡⚡⚡Love little lightbulb moments like this! 💡💡💡
