Results are in!!!

I went into this past 4 weeks with the mindset of "if I lose weight, great"! I honestly didn't care. I just wanted to find me again and feel better. I have been lost without my nutrition and going through a specific program. Don't get me wrong, I was still working out daily but I didn't have a good routine and my nutrition had gone down the tubes...completely...

YOU CAN NEVER OUT TRAIN A BAD DIET!!

Not to mention how I felt on the daily. I was always bloated and gassy after noon. Nothing I did seemed to change this. Here comes the TMI, but do not even ask about regularity...cuz there was no such thing. I also was exhausted all the time. Reaching for caffeine multiple times a day just to get through. My mood was all over the place. I would snap easily and had very little patience. I cried often over stupid things. I personally suffer with anxiety and depression but this stuff was unreal some days. My joints hurt daily. My arms were a wreck and don't even ask about my knees (especially the leg with metal from hip to ankle).

Enter the amazing 4 week program from that is all about healing your gut. Simple (but you have to be willing) things to change that could just make you feel better...um yes please!!

I knew I had to give it a shot. Was it gonna be easy? No! Did I want to feel better? Absolutely!! And I can honestly say I do!! I am down 11.4lbs and 11 inches which was huge bonus. I am far less bloated and gassy (I think there may be a few foods to blame and I am eliminating them this week). I am regular, less moody, I have more patience and the energy is amazing! My arms are like 80% better (I think the rest is early carpal tunnel issues). My knees are feeling much better as well.

This is going to be my new normal. I do not plan on giving this feeling up. Gut health is so important. If you are struggling, let me help. I would love to help anyone interested in hearing more or has any questions. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hey all! I know its been a hot minute since I've posted but I'm back and ready to share info, inspiration and just life again.

So let's start it off with a recipe for a bit of TASTY TUESDAY!!!

I made these muffins and they are so delicious! I did a little substitutions for some allergy safe ingredients for my kids but nothing that would change the flavor. I highly recommend these for a sweet treat, breakfast addition or even a healthy kid's snack.

Oh the things I wish 29 year old me knew that I know now!! My life at 29 was like I was still in college. I spent the weekends at the bar eating and drinking with friends, singing karaoke, staying up til all hours, sleeping in and really not giving a crap about how I treated my body. Man did it show!! โฃ

Don't get me wrong, life was a blast!! I had found the love of my life, made some amazing new friends and for the first time in a really long time found the fun extroverted Jenn again. She was gone for so long!! โฃ
โฃ
But fun Jenn didn't really know the meaning of balance. It was all or nothing mentality for her and she chose nothing. This meant beer and bar food, fast food, lack of sleep, lots of coffee and very little water. Not the healthiest she could be. I did loose some weight and get a little healthier right before my wedding but definitely wasn't a sustainable way of life. โฃ

Fast forward almost a full 10 years and this 39 year old mom of 2 boys found a healthy way of living. No fad diets, no binging; just eating right 85-90% of the time with no deprivation, exercising regularly and enjoying it!! Not to mention, helping others get started on their journey as an added bonus. โฃ
โฃ
Never in my wildest dreams would I have seen myself like this at 39. I used to loathe working out. I found it a chore. Now I do it cuz I appreciate my body for being capable of moving everyday. Its also my stress relief, my mood lifter and my "me time" as a stay at home mom. Workouts are still hard and I do modify more than ya'll probably think due to bad knees and metal in my right leg. However, I do my best and know that progress is so much better than perfection. ๐๐Ž ๐Œ๐Ž๐‘๐„ all or nothing mentality for this girl! Just good old balance, which is sustainable! โฃ

The 3 weeks between these pics were tough and I definitely didn't focus as much on my nutrition as I could have. However, I only gained a pound but I lost inches. So yay!!โฃ

Not that I need to explain myself, but I am in maintenance mode for my weight. I am literally working out to be healthy and stay fit. If I happen to tone and tighten, I am definitely not complaining!! โฃ

Lately with all the stress of the pandemic, my oldest son starting preschool (virtually), politics, some home repairs and the always present extended family drama, I feel my nutrition has been a bit out of control (typed as I shove chips in my mouth). These are not excuses, just life. All of which we are all having to deal with in some form or another. โฃ

I have felt very out of sorts. My anxiety is high. I have even missed numerous workouts in my current program which makes me feel like such a failure. I am second guessing everything and I just need to get back to the basics. I need to get control of things I can actually control. I mean, I can't control the pandemic or that my child is having to virtually learn. I can't control major water leaks or the random things happening with family out of state. So what can I control? โฃ
โฃ
Well, a few years ago I would have spiraled causing more anxiety and depression and my answer would have been, "Everything's out of my control." Since I found a way to help with my anxiety and depression through working out and my fitfam, life can seem a bit more manageable (not always perfect but better). So again I ask, "what CAN I control?" I can control:

โ€ข Whether I move my body for at least 30 minutes a dayโฃ
โฃ
โ€ข How much water I drinkโฃ
โฃ
โ€ข Eating to fuel my body 90% of the time (I am still a foodie through and through)โฃ
โฃ
โ€ข To whom or what I give my energyโฃ

So I am getting back to the basics. Putting focus back on my fitness goals, my nutrition and finding more gratitude cuz I'm not letting 2020 get the best of me in the last few months it has left. โฃ

When we think of getting healthy, it usually starts with that NASTY four letter word "D-I-E-T". This for most involves cutting food groups, counting calories, points, taking pills, drinking multiple shakes, and just over all deprivation. NO THANK YOU!!
This also usually starts with a weight goal in mind, some magic number that we think we should see. Whether its on the scale or a size we should fit into. Instead of having a deep reason to want to make changes and stay on the journey towards better health. No matter the obstacles. A goal is one thing but your reason for starting and pushing through is entirely different. THERE IS NO MAGIC NUMBER!!
Do you have a goal? Do you have a why? They have got to fuel you and fire you up!!
I set out on this journey to help with my postpartum depression after my 1st child was born. Did I lose weight? Yes, but I also gained some back and lost it again cuz I'm human, not perfect. However, I found a way of fueling my body with clean food that became a lifestyle and included working out in the comfort of my own home. This, in turn, got me in great health just in time to have baby #2 come along.
Now almost 19 months postpartum and I have still kept my "why" close to my heart. I want to be the best example for my boys and have them know I am striving to be the healthiest version of myself for them. I want to be around for them and their families for as long as possible. The flatter tummy, popping abs and toned arms are all a major added bonus๐Ÿ˜œ
If you are wanting to get healthy and fit (body and mind), find your why. Something that will make you stay the course even when it gets bumpy. You are worth more than you know and you deserve to be as happy as possible on your journey no matter what you're striving for.

Thatโ€™s one hell of a transformation!!! Can we show some love to Sheena for all of her hard work & dedication?! It starts with the decision to start, it continues with consistency & it never ends.
Congratulations to Sheena L. on her AMAZING transformation! These donuts are gluten free, dairy free and absolutely delicious!! Plus they have real melted dark chocolate on top! Who doesn't love that?
Food does not have to be greasy, salty, overly sweet, or filled with chemicals for it to taste good. Food can be simple ingredients combined to be healthy, satisfying and delicious.

*TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY*
I have really contemplated ๐Ÿค” for awhile if I should post my results from the 6 week program I finished a few weeks ago. Posting such personal pictures can be very difficult cuz it opens you up to other people's opinions and thoughts. Both of which can be very hard to take, especially if they are less than kind. However, I want to share my journey and be as real as possible with y'all.
I did not set out to lose more weight but I did hope for more muscle toning ๐Ÿ’ชand definition. Not only did I get muscle definition (hello obliques ๐Ÿ˜) but I gained some much needed confidence and positivity.
Spending 20 minutes (at least) on myself has been really helpful with dealing with my postpartum depression and anxiety. I know I have done numerous programs and I have loved them all for this reason. However, this trainer really gave me the encouragement ๐Ÿ’› I needed daily to make sure I focused on me and my fitness journey๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ.
I know in home ๐Ÿกworkouts aren't for everyone but find what works for you and makes you feel good about yourself. Find some way to exercise daily that inspires you and that you enjoy. Cuz trust me, if I can do this amidst depression and anxiety while caring for 2 kiddos๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ, you can do it too. You just have to in your capabilities.

Today was full of emotion. Exercise can bring it all out. Laughing, crying, agression; if you can feel it, a sweat sesh can get it out.
This week has been rough...hell this past month has been rough mentally. My oldest child has been sick for what seems like the entire school year (yay for being a stay at home parent) and has been on 2 antibiotics in the past month. Now he is on something for allergies or possible sinus issue. He can't catch a break. The baby still won't consume actual food, yet will put fuzz from the floor in his mouth. He is still at 14 months old exclusively breastfed. Took him to the doc today and found out he has a double ear infection, so yet another antibiotic in the house. This momma is tired to say the very least.
Today's workout brought tears of joy and tears of being overwhelmed and sad. I cried tears of joy for the 16 year old girl who broke her leg and thought she'd never be normal again. I cried sad tears for the 38 year old mom (not afraid of my age) who just wants 5 minutes to p*e alone or drink her coffee hot. I cried tears of overwhelming emotions for all the stuff this same mom needs to do but can't squeeze into her busy day.
This season of life is tough and if you are thinking no one understands, just know I do and you aren't alone. Some people ask why I take time to workout daily; its so my mind can have a way of releasing all it holds back from the world, my kids, or my family. I truly do this for me and my sanity. Make sure you do something for you, no matter how big or small.
