🖤 Black History Month 🖤 invites us to slow down, reflect, and tell the truth about the roots of yoga and the ways Black voices have too often been erased from wellness spaces. 🖤✨
Yoga is not a trend, an aesthetic, or a commodity. It is an ancient, living practice shaped by lineage, culture, and resistance. In Western spaces, it has frequently been appropriated, whitened, and disconnected from the communities and wisdom that sustain it. Honoring Black history means naming that reality and choosing to practice differently.
At Earth Yoga, our commitment is not performative or seasonal. It lives in how we compensate, collaborate, teach, learn, and listen. It shows up in who we amplify, whose words we study, and how we create space for healing that is trauma-informed, inclusive, and rooted in respect.
This month, we celebrate Black yogis, Black teachers, Black students, and Black leaders—past, present, and future—whose presence, resilience, and brilliance continue to shape the practice of yoga in powerful ways. May we remain accountable, curious, and devoted to honoring yoga without extraction, erasure, or harm. 🙏🏻
With deep respect and ongoing commitment,
🤍 Earth Yoga
