The Hawaii Fire Department operates about 20 full-time fire/medic stations county-wide, along with multiple volunteer fire stations that also support emergency response across Hawaiʻi Island — including here on the East side.

Even with this coverage, we live on a large island with many rural areas — and travel time for responders is real.

Brain damage can begin within 4–6 minutes without oxygen.

Those first few minutes matter.
Hands-Only CPR can keep blood flowing until emergency services arrive.

In Hawaiʻi, emergency responders treat over 1,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests each year. Survival rates remain low without immediate CPR.

Most of these emergencies happen at home — not in a hospital.

Hands-Only CPR is simple:
Call 911. Push hard and fast in the center of the chest.
