A patient came in today with a lymph node that’s been there for months.

In the traditional system, that usually means an order, weeks of waiting, and a bill that still costs hundreds of dollars even with insurance.

Instead, we walked down the hall, did an ultrasound, and had answers in minutes.

This is what happens when primary care, imaging, and decision-making are built together — under one roof.

Healthcare should feel calm, clear, and timely.

This morning, a patient reached out and was in the office within thirty minutes.

We handled everything directly — labs, imaging, treatment, and coordination with a surgeon — without sending her to the ER.

In most healthcare settings, this would have meant hours of waiting and an unpredictable bill.

Instead, her care was calm, coordinated, and focused on the patient.

This reel is a real example of what physician-led, coordinated care can look like.

A patient reached out this morning.
Within thirty minutes, she was in the office.

Labs. IV fluids. CT. Ultrasound.
A diagnosis. A plan. A surgeon already reviewing her case.

In most systems, this would have been an automatic ER visit.
Instead, it was calm, coordinated, and predictable.

This is why physician-led care — and real coordination — matters.

A patient texted me this morning.
Thirty minutes later, she was in my office — instead of the emergency room.

Over the next few hours, we handled everything directly:
labs, IV fluids, medications, a CT scan, an ultrasound, and specialist coordination.

In most healthcare settings, this would have meant an ER visit, hours of waiting, and an unpredictable bill.

Instead, her care was coordinated, calm, and focused on the patient.

This is what healthcare can look like when physicians control the process.

DPC lives happily outside of insurance, bureaucracy, and burnout—and honestly, it shows.

No rushed visits, no red tape, no feeling like a number. Just real relationships, real access, and care that actually feels… well, human. This is healthcare without the headache.

One of the most common things I hear is:
“I don’t know who to call when something goes wrong.”

That confusion isn’t because patients don’t care or don’t understand medicine. It’s because modern healthcare is fragmented in ways most people don’t realize.

I recorded this video to explain why healthcare feels the way it does—and why that experience isn’t your fault.

January is when a lot of patients start running into unexpected healthcare costs.

Deductibles reset, insurance plans change, and many people delay imaging they actually need because they are worried about surprise bills.

One of the reasons we value having a local, transparent imaging option like Hitchcock Direct Imaging is that it gives patients clarity. Knowing the cost up front makes it easier to make decisions based on health, not fear.

This short video explains why January is such a pressure point for imaging and how a cash-priced, middleman-free model can help.

If you know someone who has been putting off imaging because of cost concerns, feel free to share this with them.

This just happened tonight.

A little girl split her forehead after her brother accidentally hit her with a plastic golf club he got for Christmas. Her mom texted me, they were here within about ten minutes, and she was stitched up and back out the door in under half an hour.

No urgent care.
No ER.
No sitting in a waiting room during flu season.

And it didn’t cost them a dime out of pocket.

This is what direct primary care is supposed to look like.

A forehead laceration after hours doesn’t have to mean the ER.

Tonight, a little girl was accidentally hit by her brother’s plastic golf club. Her mom texted me, they were here within minutes, and she was stitched up and home in under 30 minutes.

No urgent care.
No ER.
No sitting in a waiting room during flu season.

And no out-of-pocket cost.

This is what direct primary care is supposed to look like.

About Hitchcock Family Medicine

We at Hitchcock Family Medicine believe that the business of medicine has become too complicated. The doctor-patient relationship has been eroded by third-party middlemen. By returning to a direct relationship, both medically and financially, we are able to return the medical decision-making power back to the doctor and patient and out of the hands of the insurance companies. Call (423) 763-1942 to set up an appointment.
