Public health is essential to the health and well being of our community. Quietly, public health workers go about doing the important work of protecting food and water, providing life saving vaccinations, ensuring that communicable diseases threats are identified and stopped, helping women have healthy pregnancies and babies, providing opportunities to protect the environment and reduce pollutants from going into the landfills, providing dental care for children that would not otherwise have access, ensuring children with serious health conditions have financial resources and coordinated care, offering education and medical care for planning and spacing pregnancies, emergency response for things such as PFAS in the water supply, active tuberculosis in a local school, an E. coli outbreak linked to a local restaurant.... I could go on and on. This proposed reduction will have serious ramifications on the health of our community members as well as our economic development.
