HDAAC-Holliston Drug & Alcohol Awareness Coalition

HDAAC-Holliston Drug & Alcohol Awareness Coalition Creating a strong & healthy community to prevent & reduce substance. We are regular people who may or may not have personal experience with addictions.

HDAAC is a collaboration of people in Holliston
who are concerned that so many families are suffering with addiction and all that goes with it. We are also a coalition of healthcare professionals, the Holliston Police Department, the School
Department, the Fire Department, social workers, business people and
more. We welcome you, too. Right now, we are collecting data, doing surveys of stakeholders and assembling statistics to define the depth of the problems and identify the best options and strategies to consider. Once all the data is collected we will share it with you, the residents of Holliston. Together we will come up with a strategic plan for community change. The model we are using to assess, plan and implement community change was developed by SAMHSA and used by community coalitions nationwide.

Over the last few weeks, HDAAC and the Holliston Police Department trained over 50 town employees on Narcan, a lifesaving drug for opioid overdoses. All of these employees and town buildings are now armed with several doses of Narcan and equipped with the knowledge to help someone during an overdose.

If ANYONE in the community is interested in obtaining Narcan, feel free to stop by 1750 Washington Street for a free kit. We'd also be happy to host a Narcan training for your community groups/clubs. And we occasionally host open trainings for any resident, so be on the look out for advertisements throughout the year if you're interested.

Yesterday we had an amazing and energetic speaker, from Fear(less) Inside! 80 students at Holliston High identified their fears, learned coping skills for them, and created a community to show they are not alone in those fears.

We will have a video put together from Holliston Hub -hcat- combining some of his presentation with an interview a couple of our Youth Action Team students did afterwards in the coming weeks!
