The E.R. manager of one of the biggest hospitals in Florida came to see me for depression. When she came to our 2nd session, she told me: “You gave me a lot of hope”.

$250,000, or follow the dream?

He took a bite of the challah, was silent for a few seconds and asked: "Why don't you open a bakery? Tell me what you need and I will be the investor. I will give you $250,000.”

A very successful general contractor (GC) who develops enormous real estate projects in Florida and who has opened successful restaurants in our area, a man who travels the world and spends thousands of dollars on food tasting made by master chefs to satisfy his culinary curiosity, made my ego blush.

“That’s not my direction," I answered with a frown, "there is a big gap between that and where I am."

"These are Rivka's challahs," the hostess informs the diners around the holiday table.

"Tell me Rivka, what are you waiting for?!?!", he reminded me about his offer after eating a piece of challah.

When we got to the desserts, I brought out a baklava cheesecake that I had made. "That's the one I want," he pointed and asked me to cut a piece for him. Along with the bite he took, his brain wheels split in two directions: a report of pleasure towards the salivary glands, and the others towards another business temptation: "If I owned ‘Whole Foods’, I would order 10,000 pieces from you right now.”

"But opening a bakery is not my dream", I replied politely.

How many times do we get business offers that can sway us from our direction in a second, and upgrade our bank account situation, as we never had before? Tempting, obviously, especially when a year ago, one of our patients, who had just sold his bakery, told us that a good bakery makes income of $750,000 annually.

I thought for a moment about a way to combine my dream with his investment, but... how does coaching for personal breakthroughs, relationship transformation and bringing peace to a chaotic home go together with flour, water and gluten? How will I find a challenging emotion in a challah and dissolve it, when my whole being is treating and healing people from the root, helping them build healthy thought processes and turning suppressed emotions into a live and vibrant ones? There is no such a thing in bakery.

Would the temptation bring me satisfaction, or will I choose it for the money?
Will I fulfill myself as I could, or will my heart miss a beat for having been avoiding and ignoring what it has been requesting for 20 years?
Will I wake up in the morning energetic and smiley, or will I feel drained?
Maybe these signs - 🤑🤑 - look very sexy at first, but wait a minute, what did I come here for??
