☀️▪️📍
I’ve been thinking about this a lot. I talk about it all the time physically in class, but not as much philosophically—so it felt worth exploring.
This morning, when I noticed the contrast between my square candle and the round green glass mushroom on my table, it made me pause.
In yoga, we don’t round everything off to fit in. We create structure first—through the feet, the edges of the hands, the corners of the body—and then we soften where it’s appropriate, especially in the mind. Those “corners” are the places of engagement: rooting, stabilizing, discerning. They give the pose clarity and prevent collapse, setting the breath up for deeper access.
When we disappear into the circle, we lose definition. When we honor our corners, we stay present, grounded, and intentional. Strength in yoga isn’t about hardening; it’s about knowing where to hold and where to release. The edges keep us honest. They’re what allow freedom to exist without falling apart.
Our corners aren’t flaws to be smoothed out—they’re the points of connection that make balance possible.
You feel that? ☀️💓
