-Winter Wake-

The soft subtle hues of winter wrap me in an inward flight. Diving deep along the unsettling shores of destinations that need some light. Settle in among the resinous hours dripping slowly through creosote cracks. Snowflakes drift and branches quake beneath the weight, should I turn back? My forward gaze an ominous blur, a blinding silent night. Adrift and all at sea, am I to go left or right? I turn around and in my vessels wake, I’m comforted by my tracks. Vivid prints of my own doing, I hear nothing but my laugh.

Don’t apologize for taking the time to do nothing. Settle into the slower speed winter lovingly brings. It’s a gift we all need. .

Fireweed has begun to burn crimson and ignite fall into action. This plant is all too familiar with the stillness of winter, for it is the first plant to rise through the ashes after a fire. It knows the solitude of life on pause, when it surrenders to life’s chaos and emerges in such desolation, burning for us with all its might before winter blankets us with white. It whispers words of stillness after such fervent flames, only to mimic and emerge as the flames itself, right before the frost.
